Someone has already reported lower performance with this new 9600M GT DDR2 than the one with GDDR3.
For the driver I got them on internet, don't reme, ber where exactly. Maybe on Laptopvideo2go. It seems they used DDR2 memory to reduce the cost.
Can you run a 3DMARK06 Benchmark?

On which resolution 3DMARK06 was configured? Looking the results, you seem quite low if it was 1024x768... if you can tell what was the score, it will help more ;)

Well, it doesn't help at all... try do as I did, screenshots of your 3DMARK06 results.
Do it in 1024x768 (default), 1366x768 to compare to my score and native resolution of your screen.

The score is most useful than the screen you've posted. It doesn't show if DDR2 is less efficient or not than GDDR3.

    Hi guys.

Congratulations for your great review, darika;)

I have bought this laptop one month ago.
Now, it's running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bits.
It works very fine (with every drivers updated correctly), but I have a troubleshooting with Realtek HD drivers.
I have installed the last version of Realtek's drivers for Vista 32 / 64 (2.19, posted few days ago).

By the way, I installed the Acer Empowering posted in this thread (3.0.3006).
When windows starts, a windows appears notifying there´s a problem with Realtek try icon and eAudio.exe ("Notification tool for RealTek audio stops working")

I want to know if it's strictly necessary to install Audio eAudio Management to use correctly the Subwoofer of Aspire 6935G.
If affirmative, ¿anybody can teach me how to install the latest version of Empowering Technology for Acer?. I cant't find it in Acer's website

    Thank you

I will recommend you to install the realtek driver HERE provided by acer for Vista 64bits, I use this one and everything is working fine.

I have used them but didn´t work with eAudio.

You can use eAudio with these drivers?

    EDIT:
Subwoofer WORKS (I tested it with a dvd and I can turn on / off it), but it still appears the error I comment in last post.

    Hi there,

Got this same issues with you on Realtek, what I did was browsed into the device manager and look through the installed audio devices and found out that there is also an Nvidia audio device along side with the Realtek one, so I disabled the Nvidia device and since then, Realtek seemed to work properly.

Anyway, thanks Darika for your great and informative review. Really helped a lot in my buying decision.

The best specs in the world won't make up for having to ship the unit overseas for service if need be. No certified service centers in the USA

I'm using 182.05 but as I do not really play games so often, I can't say it's better than the previous versions... I don't see any difference.

I'm waiting for the official release to test it :D
We can't really compare with an unfinsihed O.S.

hi wandyhee, i also just realized it when u mention about the VRAM DDR and make the comparison with the daria's. yet i also get DDR2 as the GPU Z result so when i bought it to ACER service center singapore they told me "the hardware itself supposed to be DDR3 and it's only written as DDR2" and they expect me to believe that and live with it. so i insist on showing me the hard proof, so they tried to swap the graphic card on my laptop, try to look up on the manufacturer based on my Graphic card serial number, etc. after 2 long hours of waiting it produces nothing. so in the end they asked the manager to convince me that the problem lies within the firmware and they'll "contact" me back later after they get it. what a bunch of nonesense, my 3d mark 06 is lower than daria's 9600m GT 512mb GDDR3 while mine supposed to be 9600m GT 1GB "supposed to be" GDDR3?? new way of acer scam? sighh....

The 1GB version is DDR2 I believe. Which unfortunately is slower than the 512MB GDDR3 version. It's not the memory amount, but rather the type that makes the big difference.

yeah... but on the ad's and the brochure they put a GDDR3 on it. don't think this kind of action can be taken into court?? sigh... when this happens because i wont listen of my friends not to get ACER.

The Acer is still a solid laptop. The DDR2 model should still be sufficient for most games.
