I would like to ask the people who has the p150em with the matte finish.
My question is: does the p150em with matte finish has a grainy look?

I am asking this because I own 2 matte screens and both of them has a grainy looking filter to it. I also have added an example in the attachment so you can see what I mean. I know that not all matte screens have this issue because yesterday I saw the HP DV7 with 1080p matte screen and I have to say that this screen was really really beautiful. And I was like  it gave a sort of peaceful feel to my eyes. Compared to all the laptops around that were glossy made me think that I may have chosen the wrong screen for my p150em.

I have ordered the p150em already with the glossy screen but it hasn't been build and sent yet. I am deciding if I have to switch from glossy to matte because, in my experience I find the matte finish to be less prone to dust, micro scratches and I read somewhere that it's healthier for your eyes because is causes less eye strain. I also read that it's better for designers because the colors are more neutral? Or was that an wider gamut issue?

And also does matte finish has a wider viewing angle or is it the other way around?

I will be using my laptop for 1/5 of the time at school.
most of the time I will designing: illustrator, photoshop, coding and a little after effects. Let's just say I make allot of 2d digital graphics and not for print.

I hope you guys can answer my question.
    And thanks for reading!

thanks jaug i just read the whole thread :) but it didn't say anything about the 95 gamut matte screen having a grainy look. Except that most matte screens looks grainy but nobody confirmed it yet for the 95 gamut screen.

I also read that there is some kind of red ghosting effect on the 95 matte version. Now i really dont know what to get... :(

Don't get confused the red ghosting effect was a old problem with a bad batch of screens, it has been fixed now :)

Also, regarding the 95 Gamut... yeah I can't to much but linking you to a thread as I have neither, but I can tell you that if you calibrate the screen there shouldn't be this problem.

Do keep in mind that this matter is (maybe) available on the Gamut matte screens. I haven't noticed this, but I didn't really look for this when I had both screens in front of me (and it's been a while).

    - but I'm pretty sure that calibrating the Gamut matte screen, should fix a lot! There's a reason all the professionals calibrate their screens.

Well that's great news and thanks for your reply:)
I am definitely gonna calibrate the screen.

Now I just need a confirmation from a p150em user with the 95 gamut screen with matte finish that can tell me that the screen doesn't look grainy.

As that is my main question. This grainy effect is also called rainbow effect, haze and speckles. It's mostly noticeable at a white background.

Is there really no one who can just tell me that the screen doesn't have this issue?

At panelook.com it does say that the screen has a Antiglare (Haze 42%) on the B156HW01 V4. But I would really like to know from an user who has this screen.

    Hi wingman4ever,
I'm also considering this screen upgrade for my P150 and for the same reasons you said on the first post, but after reading your feedback I feel a little scared that I might be disappointed...
Please give further feedback if you managed to fix the problem and how.

    Thank you,
    Best Regards to all

Isn't the grainy look on matte displays pretty common, mostly when viewing something with the color white?

I have had glossy on my old Acer and now I got Matte 60% gamut on my current machine.

Matte is great! Yes, to some degree, it might seem a little grainy, but that can hardly be noticed. You can only see it on light colors if you really look.
