    Hi Guys,

    Have some good news for those of you with CF-52s. I didn't want to say anything last week until I tested this, but I found 2 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 800 MHz SODIMMs made by Crucial that work in the CF-52G that I have to bring the total RAM to 8GB. The part number is CT51264AC800.M16FC. I found a couple of sticks on ebay that were pulled from a MAC Video Card - which is what it appears these sticks were intended for - video cards.

    Having said that, BIOS is reporting a Memory Size of 8192 MB BUT, only 3228 MB available - which doesn't bother me much because it's likely just showing the max officially supported RAM size minus what the video card is using.

    Both MX and Antix show about 8GB of total RAM available. I'll attach some screen shots and a picture of the BIOS plus a listing of lsmem -a.

    Cheers!
    Trev

    Code:
    $ lsmem -a

    Try to fill it up to confirm that it will not generate errors

    I'm running memtester on 7324MB of RAM (8192 - the 868 MB the system uses for video) I'll post the output listing when it's finished - looking good so far!

    3228MB for 32-bit OS.
    So what's your question or what's the news?

    It's got 100% nothing to do with the OS - this is what BIOS was reporting - take a look at the pictures. The CF-52 is supposed to be able to support only 4 GB of RAM - The Crucial part number I listed increases that capacity to 8 GB. In the process of thorough testing with memtester 4.3.0 64 bit right now.

    BIOS is reporting for 32-bit OS. Of course this C2D CPU supports 8GB, nothing new here.

    Well the Core 2 Duo might, but the CF-52 is certainly not specified to support 8 GB...

    There were no 4GB SODIMM modules when Panasonic started selling CF-52, that's why 4GB max in specs.
    Ok, I'll tell you one more secret. Though your CF-52 was "designed for windows vista" you can install ...tadamtadamtadam... Windows 7, 8 or 10 :))

    CF-52’s with Vista are nice but vista suck. Windows 7 is tailored to I3-I7 (Usually 1-4 gen i3+) C2Duo is Vista specked. Vista was 2005 (?) and I think C2Duos were 04’ (?). Win8 is i3+ for 5 gen and above plus 10. Though some of the dates might be wrong. Correct me if so
