sadly i thought so but after testing with my i7 3630QM with my 965m
while hard gaming my cpu would hit 100-104C and throttle down. also my gpu would hit 85C

i made a mod with a second heatpipe-fan and the cpu is now at 70-80 max and gpu only 60C

By the way as you understood...... I AM BACK!!!! :)

what did i miss all those months? i read the last 7 pages. i am glad more people are moving on to the 8570w + 965m backwagon...

by the way today i uploaded a video with my laptop. i had been thinking of doing one about the whole thing for months. but i just got the time. enjoy...

Lately i have been thinking about installing a 980m MXMb in my laptop just to check if it is possible. i wont have issue with temps cause my current setup is ok. I just want to know if the 100W that the 980m needs will be covered by the mxma slot of my mobo or both will be fried...
by the way... did the link you posted some pages ago show a 8560w with a 970m?? mxmb???

ig it works there it will work in our 8570. and if the 970m works then maybe the 980m too.... hmmmm

I was able to install a Zotac 1070N in my 15" zbook 15 so I think you should be fine

wait wait... your zbook had originaly which card? our screens in the 8570w can not work with 10xx series (1050 - 1060 -1070)
the only lineup we can use is the 9xx series

does your zbook have an MXM b slot?

No I had to remove the ODD/DVD Sata connector to make room for the card i'm using the dvd-drive bay to hold the heatsink

aside from the cooling mods and the physical mods to fit the card. did you have to do anything else? does the card get enough power from the mxma slot? does it overheat? throttle?

also, what card did your laptop come with? how can it be that it works with a 10xx series card? they are suposed to have extra power cable that connects to them? how did you give them extra power?

All I had to were the physical mods and inf mods.

Not all 1070 cards require an external power connector for Example the MSI 1070 and Zotac 10 series cards all get power from the bus connector.

As far as I can tell my card can get enough power but I have seen in rare cases where so much power is pulled that my cpu throttles even when it shouldn't based on reported temps I have decided on under clocking my cpu to prevent that from happening in GTA5 where it would happen all the time

my laptop came with a k1100m
