installed BF3 to test it; what i saw was a constant under utilizzation GPU issue, either with ULTRA settings or with LOW, i can t go above 50-60% utilizzation and of course my FPS were ridiculously LOW, while on my old 6970 i could play at a constant 60 fps....

will install and test Crysis 2 as well soon.

    Graphics Card:

    AMD Radeon 7970M

    AMD Catalyst Driver Version:

    12.8 WHQL

    Operating System:

    Windows 7 Home Premium x64

    Issue Details:

Playing The Secret World on maxed ultra settings: anywhere from 50-60% utilization and temps nearing 100C. Frames drop from 35 to about 22 or lower in detailed areas.

Diablo 3 on maxed settings: around 70% utilization and temps nearing 80C-85C. Frames are pretty consistently around 50-60.

World of Warcraft: Full details maxed out on 1080p, I'm getting around 20-40 FPS with utilization no higher than 49%. My old 5870m could get 50-60 FPS in the same areas I tested.

Will try some other games and update accordingly.

    Games with under-utilization issue:

The Secret World, Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2

    Model: NP9150 (Clevo P15xEMx)
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 4.6.5 dated 06/18/2012
    Processor: Intel i7-3610QM
    AMD Driver: 8.951.6.0
Game: GTA IV (Steam 1.0.7 version, vanilla/not modded)
Settings: 1920x1080 resolution, all video settings on High (a couple Very High setting choices downright destroy my FPS, so I keep all at High with little loss in visual quality), AA on 4x, three slider bars at 50%, definition on, vsync off.

Issue: 7970m utilization hovers from 50% to 90%, but most of the time 65%-70%, even when FPS is far below 60. My FPS ranges from 30FPS to 60+FPS, but seems to average around 45FPS. Enduro/ZeroCore does not allow the 7970m to use more power when power is needed. I see high utilization and high FPS indoors, but in many places within the city I see usage drop. My CPU usage hovers around 50%-60%.

*EDIT* I concur with NeoCzar (post below); make sure to include more details in your posts. Try to post the videos and screen shots that you still may have stored that you included in your posts on the deleted feedback thread.

    Hi ppl,
Like I posted in AMD's Forum, here it is:

    Graphics Card:
    HD7970M

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History
At the moment 12.7 Official Beta, but also tried Clevo Stock drivers (12.5), 12.6 Official, 12.8 beta - All had similar results and no noticible improvements
    + 12.7 CAP2

    Operating System:
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit SP1 fully updated

    Issue Details:
Probably due to Enduro tecnology the GPU doesn't increase or maintain the GPU % usage enough to keep the FPS stable. All the games at some point have 60 + fps then it strangely decreases to 40-20fps.

    Examples:
Dirt 3 on ULTRA LOW (1920x1080)

    Dirt 3 on HIGH (1920x1080)

Max Payne 3 on High, MSAA off, FXAA off, Tesselation off, AF 16x (1920x1080):

Prototype 2 on High (1920x1080) + High Overclock:

Games with under-utilization issue, until now:

Crysis 1, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2, Batman Arkham City, Prototype 2, Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown, Saints Row The Third, Rage, MDK2 HD, Max Payne 3 (Directx 10, 10.1 & 11), Battlefield 3, Lineage 2, GTA 4

Games without issues: Metro 2033, Far Cry 2, Burnout Paradise, Syndicate, Max Payne 3 (only Directx 9)

Note: I tried different settings in CCC with no noticeable improvements

    CPU Details:
Intel Ivy Bridge 3610QM (with HD4000)

Motherboard or System Make & Model:
    CLEVO P150EM

    Motherboard BIOS Version:
    BIOS 1.00.04

    Best Regards to all

    Graphics Card

    HD7970M

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History

    12.7 Official Beta

    Operating System

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, SP1

    Issue Details

I have played the following games and had an issue with underutilization of the GPU. Crysis 1, Crysis 2, Stalker (the game runs fine, but with Vsync off it still doesn't use 99%), Batman Arkham City, World in Conflict.

    Games without issues: Metro 2033.

All games are played with anti aliasing on, as well as VSYNC. Vsync doesn't work in some of the games, at all, even when on. There is screen tearing in every game regardless of Vsync settings. Graphics settings do not affect the card. You can turn down the graphics, the utilization will simply go lower, so essentially you cannot get 60 FPS in any games, except in older games that a 3 generations old card could run.

The main issue is the under-utilization of the card. When I look at an expansive scene in a game, the gpu throttles down. For example: In Crysis 2, I will be walking down a corridor and the game will use 90+% of the GPU, as soon as I walk outside into the city where there is a lot going on, the utilization drops to 60% and FPS drops accordingly (ALOT). I tested this, I would look at the ground, the GPU would slowly build up to 99% and stay there. I would then look up at a large scene, instantly utilization will drop to 60%. I repeated this test many times, and in Crysis 1, same problem.

Also, Metro 2033 works fine, except for screen tearing and Vsync doesn't work, even when I turn it on in the .cfg files. Considering this is a, "Terribly" optimised game, I'd say they obviously did something right.

    CPU Details

    Intel Ivy Bridge 3820QM

    Display Device(s) and Connection(s) Used

Built in monitor, 90% NTSC Color gamut display, glossy.

Motherboard or System Make & Model

    CLEVO P170EM

    Motherboard BIOS Version

BIOS 1.00.05 (Not positive on this one)

    System Memory Type & Amount

    Kingston Hyper-X 1600mhz

    Power Supply

Clevo 220v Auto-switching adapter (Normal laptop power supply)

    Additional Hardware

Crucial M4 SSD 256GB, latest firmware.

    Secondary, 7200 RPM Seagate

    Additional Details

I have installed multiple different drivers, reinstalled windows, nothing works. I found the 12.7 Beta to be the best for me, as with all other driver versions I couldn't even complete the windows experience index test without it saying, "Incompatible GPU." (Paraphrasing). 12.7 I could, so I deemed it the best because of that.

    AMD Catalyst Driver Version:
    12.7 BETA

    Operating System:
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

    Issue Details:
In World of Warcraft, there are some zones where my fps will go bellow 30 (even saw 16 with some PvP action) while my video card utilization remains at 30-40% (in AfterBurner 2.2.3). Temps are fine remaining around 60-70 degrees celcius. In other zones, the GPU utilization goes up to anything between 50-70 and I get better fps (around 70). The worst zone I have seen this happen is Orgrimmar where the GPU does not go over 40% utilization and fps is around 30, sometimes dropping if too many animations need to be rendered.

    Games with under-utilization issue:
I have only confirmed World of Warcraft myself.

I do not know how Enduro decides when the game needs more GPU utilization, but it does not seem to work all the time or at least not in all the zones.

    Graphics Card AMD 7970M

AMD Catalyst Driver Version: After reading the problems others are having....the one that Sager loaded on the laptop....device manager says 8.951.6.0

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64bit

Issue Details: Laptop only plays one game...Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX. In FSX graphics setting drop down box, the game only "sees" the Intel graphics. When playing the game MSI afterburner says the 7970M has 30% utilization. Because of this, I can't set AA and AF good enough for the game. The 7970M GPU fan doesn't even kick on.

Games with under-utilization issue: Microsoft FSX

    CPU Details: i7 3820QM

Motherboard or System Make & Model: Clevo P9170EM shipped from Sager mid June 2012

Motherboard BIOS Version: I should have looked before I posted. Whatever locked bios comes stock with this laptop.

Note to OP....I registered just to post this information. I wish I had read this forum before buying this laptop. I hope your efforts can get this issue fixed and this laptop working to its advertised potential. Thank you for your efforts.

Guys by the way it has been mentioned by some official resellers and very knowledgeable members that expecting a 99% utilization is not possible with the new generations of VGA cards because some part of the card will power down depending, even under load, so we should perhaps judge by comparing to a reference AW performance instead of just the percentage of utilization.

I dont think that rumour is true, 7970m in a laptop that does not support enduro has 99% utilization almost all of the time. Why would enabling switchable output make a card behave differently whilst rendering? Labelling a newly found bug a "feature" is a very common strategy by many companies in IT / Tech industry.

    Hello all,
I already made this post in the deleted logging thread , but since videos that were uploaded are still up and also pictures. I decided to post issues that are present on mi system again for Sager, amd and users to see what issues to be aware of and what issues need to be fixed.
Theres a new driver (12.8 WHQL) comming this week so hopefully at least somethings will be fixed.

    My computer: P150EM , 7970m, i7-3610qm, RAM 8GB 1333MHz.(VORTEX 3)
    BIOS revision : 1.00.04
    EC Firmware revision : 1.00.04
    Driver versions:
I'm running the combination of the recently released intel driver by sager and the 8.981 on top of the 8.982. I found that for me its the best performing driver and the 8.982RC1 wouldnt start CCC.

    As for the games:
    Battlefield 3
    Graphics settings: see video
Issues: multiplayer( as ther's no problem in singleplayer)- on servers with 64 players online and biggger maps- utilization drops down.I can get good utilization when I have everything set to ultra preset, but in a middle of a gun fight I've get lower fps so I need to lower some settings. When I do so, I'll get lower utilization and the same fps. When I put everything on low I get simmiliar fps to Ultra preset. I still have A older MSI gx660r with a 5870m and i7-740qm so just out of curiosity I tried a bit of gameplay on it. So I played a bit on Strike at karkand an it was a crazy round with 64 players- Utilization never under 80% mostli around 90%.Keep in mind that BF3 multiplyaer is very CPU demanding and probably the 740qm hold it back. So I tried a smaller map(norshar kanals team dethamatch)with 32p- utilization mostly around 99%. Keep in mind that 740qm is much slower than 3610qm. The 3610qm shouldnt have any problem even at the most demanding maps. Actually it doesn't as I saw some gameplay on GTX680m.
Here Is a video of strike at karkand multiplayer. The gameplay isn't good as I didn't tried to play tactically, but tried to find explosions and a lot of stuff going on. At all it wasnt the worst intense round , when everybody is playing activelly the utilization drops even much lower.
At first it's on ultra than I changed it to medium at 2:10(at these settings We should get 60 fps constantly.)At 3:22 I changes settings to low.
    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HVS_XclamEw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I even tried putting it down to 1280x720 everything low almost same fps and utilization drops down to 20%.

    Crysis 1

Issues:On certain areas I get utilization above 90%, but when I enter a wide open area with a lot of buildings utilization drops down to 50-60% abd also FPS.

    Crysis 2 -

Note that the 99% utilization at the beginning is throught loading screen.

    Shift 2:Unleashed
    settings : see video
Issues: Utilization around 60% max 70% but still playeble at around 40-50fps at daytime. Problem comes at nightime when all the shadows and lights cause the usage to drop to aroun 50% and fps in the middle of a grid are around 25-30 fps. When out of the racing grid its better.
This game should run 60 fps with no problem at whatever settings.

There are actually two races on th egraph but I didnt upload the first one as I was crashing everywhere :) (dind't play it for a long time) The 99% utilization is throught the loading screen

    GTA 4
version: 1.0.4.0 (sholud be the best performing version) usage ingame(not in buit in benchmark) around 50-60% and fps mostly above 30. It should play much better thoght it's a very CPU demanding title. however the game is porelly optimized so I dont think this is a good testing subject.
However heres a gaming video-just driving around.
    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZxnET2hpum8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZxnET2hpum8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

    Formula 1 2011
Settings everything maxed with 8xMSAA, 4xMSAA settings doesant make much of a impact on the fps
(ver.1.0.0.0) . This is where the problem is seriouslly present. Theres a build in benchmark( My f1/graphics) when everything set to max with 8xMSAA - 45-50% usage and 35fps avarege(min27). I lowered the MSAA to 4x and I had usage 38-45% and avarega 32 fps???- Also tried it on my MSI GX660 - on the same settings I had average 33fps.???(whne I lower MSAA I can get 50 fps no problem)
Here It should run 60 fps capped with all sorts of ubersampling on.

the benchmark parts of the graph are the ones from the right, in the middle theres the loading screen 99% utlization. dont know whats before(probably forgot to reset that graph.

Games I have played with no issues. :
Alan wake and Metro 2033, played perfectly with 99% usage all the time and perfect FPS. Also when I lowered settings I had better fps which doesant happen in other games.I Even played oveclocked 1050/1500 on metro for two hours-temps never abowe 90C-When it hit 90-fans kick in and coll down things to 87C.

Blur played also perfectly , usage was lower but I had v-sync on so it was capped at 60fps

Split second played also fine, had ussage around 99% but still when on very high settings, some massive explosion happend, ussage also droped down to 80% but just for a split second

Bare in mind that I tried to reinstall Os a few time, Installing the drivers with all sorts of combinations and the results were almost the same.

Hope this helps, and this enduro problem will be solved as soon as possible.

Keep up the good work sager/amd and deliver some working drivers :)

    Thanks.

Btw guys you can consider +rep if you could :) Took me quite a while to upload and record everything.

    Hi ppl,
caveman-jim made another important post in Rage3D topic - http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33993055:
Source: Rage3D Discussion Area - View Single Post - 7970M Enduro Issue

I already posted my feedback, so that AMD finally sees it... I think that anyone that already posted here should copy paste and post there :p

    Thank you,
    Best Regards to all
