As per the topic, my Alienware 14 GTX765m has 7 beeps. I know it's CPU problem, the question is, is it the problem of the motherboard or the CPU ? Even tried using my old GT750m motherboard(Repaired) with the same 7 beeps. Any answers are appreciated. Thanks

Usually its motherboard failure, but you could also test with a spare CPU

might be able to shoot him an offer for 15 USD, since you are having the same issue with a separate motherboard, it could be that motherboard also died on the shelf or the CPU is actually the problem but the likelihood of that being the case is typically low.

Update: Was able to buy an i5-4200m CPU from an online shop, tested it, the 7 beeps error is now gone. Thanks The Receiver for the help. Just minor question to all, can a CPU be repaired or is it permanently DEAD?

EDIT: After some very close inspection of the i7-4700MQ CPU, i see there is a crack on the middle shiny side if viewed from a magnifiying glass. So I think this CPU is kaput?

It might be repaired if you got an expert but likely the chip itself is damaged and done for. On top of that the cost would be much higher than the cost of just buying a working one
