Well, how much is it and what are the specs of your GT70?

Well you would go from 3.3Ghz base on 4 cores to 3.8Ghz, plus whatever you can squeeze out of the manual overclocking.

The important question is, what is holding you back more right now and in the near future, the i7-4710MQ or the GTX 970M? If you play play CPU intensive games and have no plans to upgrade to a new laptop, $100 bucks isn't much for a boost.

Worst case scenario is a wash.

my main concern is the 180w psu i dont care if the performance increase is minimal , u think the 180w psu is going to handle well that cpu?

Well that's a 57W CPU with an ~80W GPU. I don't know enough about the peak output of the system to say anything definitive about the sufficiency of the 180W adapter.

Seeing how it was shipping with 4800MQs and 100W GTX 980Ms, I don't see why your proposed setup would be any more taxing. I mean I had that very GT70 years ago.

Expect the battery will run empty (battery Turbo boost feature) and lower the performance after some time with full gaming. @Falkentyne:rolleyes: The Power adaper is too weak providing enough power.
