So, yesterday the backlight on my laptop died. It had been acting up on me for the past few weeks (kicking out when i touched the back), and finally died altogether. I am not 100% sure what the problem is, but am hoping someone can help me out. Right now I am still able to use the laptop through an external monitor. I can also tell that the laptop screen is still getting a video signal, because I can barely make stuff out on it if I shine a flashlight directly at it. I took it apart to day to try to reseat some connections to no avail. I have a feeling the issue is the long green chip right underneath the screen (dunno what it's called) because that's the area where if any pressure was applied it would kick out. I don't know for sure though, just speculation. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem before, and possible solutions. I was thinking about replacing the entire screen. Is this my best option? or could there be an easier, cheaper solution?

    thanks.

The long green strip is most likely the inverter
