I'm going to be buying a gaming laptop soon, and I've narrowed down to 3 choices.

    Lenovo Legion Y540 (i5-9300H, 16gb, 1660ti, 256gb NVME/1TB hdd, $1000)
    HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (i7-9750H, 8gb, 1660ti, 256gb SSD $1009)
    Dell G5 5590 (i5-9300H, 8gb, 1650, 128gb sad $749)

I'm leaning towards the Y540, but I cant decide if the 1660, extra storage and ram is worth another $250 over the Dell which I really like the style of. I've heard the Dell runs hot.

I cant seem to find many opinions of the HP here, but the couple of reviews I found seem to say it's a good machine, and the green highlights appeal to me.

The Lenovo is just a beautiful beast, and I loved my old Y50.

All these prices are USD and all are available on the Walmart website, so I can do store pickup.

    Opinions, advice, etc?

    Thanks!

The GTX 1650 is barely adequate for modern gaming, whereas the GTX 1660 Ti is quite powerful and should be good for a while. I've only used the Lenovo Y540 of the notebooks in your list, which I like because it offers a good mix of quality and performance.

One other to look at is the Eluktronics Mech 15 mentioned in this thread.

The 1660 Ti delivers performance that slightly exceeds the last-generation GTX 1070. It's an amazing GPU for the money. If you're in the US, get yourself a Costco membership and buy the Lenovo Legion Y545 they have on sale for $999. It has the same GPU and RAM but a better CPU and a 512 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD than the Y540 you're considering.

I have a G5 with a 2060 that I purchased new from the outlet for sale. It's listed in the marketplace along with some other good deals.

Thanks for the replies. I decided not to get a new laptop at this time.
