Hey guys I had a thread going on here about me purchasing a laptop, and wanted some tips on getting discounts. But that thread was moved to another section of the forums. (I have requested the mods to move that thread back here, and then they can merge this with that).

Anyways I am purchasing a laptop and one other item. The total value of the cart is $5,099CAD.

Now on my own I can get 8.5% off the cart. (7% EPP and additional 1.5% that I can get).

Would it be possible to find a Sales Rep or a Manager to give me an additional discount of about 15%?

    Total discount equaling 23.5%-25%?

I called on Friday and I got the 8.5% discount, I got the quote # and the email from the sales rep. I didn't ask the Sales rep about the additional 15% off. I wanted to confirm with my department first and also check on the forums to see if it was possible.

PS. If I am able to get this deal; then MAYBE In the future (1-2 months from now) I will be purchasing the same equipment for rest of my team (worth maybe 4X the total amount now) but I wont be needing the discount, since I will have enough funds to make the purchase without the discounts. (But it wouldn't hurt to get them still)

I will definitely try it, but I wanted to know if someone here has done this sort of thing before. I've read the haggling tips posted here a few times, but I wanted to know if there was something more to it.

I want to know the proper way to go about it. it is 15% (or 25% all together) on a large amount which means the discount will be $1K+

And also I wanted to know if I should talk with a manger, he/she might have a higher "% off" point than the sales reps.

You can't add percentages like that. For example, if you get a 25% off and another 25% off, it's not 50% off.

Just don't make a mistake of telling them that if they give you 25% off, then you will buy more later. That's not professional at all. They heard that BS before and might get angry. So, act professionally.
