They probably won't replace the GT83 unless Nvidia decide to allow SLI/NVLink on mobile cards, which is unlikely.

BGA in Sli/NVLink setup ?o_O What a disgusting idea!

FYI. MSI would never allowed unlocked Cpu is such a setup. It would be BGA Cpu as well. Same as before. No 6820Hk or the successor 7820Hk for MSIBOOK's with Sli. Only HQ Mobile models.

A fully unlocked BGA chip would be interesting with the setup to support it. BGA gives more room for power phases and power delivery.

Maybe if AMD end up pressuring Intel in this space we will see it on the CPU side.

GPU side is a fair bit more restrictive.

Would be interesting to see if @Khenglish could transplate a 2080 Ti desktop core onto a Clevo 2080 MXM card like he did with the GTX 980 desktop GPU core on 980M.

I'd have to send in my 2080 DGFF at that point for an upgrade too :D

I think memory will be an issue. 2080 uses 256-bit bus and 2080Ti uses 352-bit bus. Also the VRMs might not be capable of the higher load.

Lastly the 2080Ti die is bigger than 2080 right?

So many issues in the way. :(

I'm pretty sure Clevo & AW tried asking nVidia again for this generation for 2080Ti. I mean we have 200w 2080 in these laptops.

I'm sure they were pissed too when they found out a thin and light is getting a Quadro RTX 6000 in a laptop that has same CUDA cores as 2080Ti but will be gimped by power and temperature limits.

The TI package is bigger IIRC?

It certainly could be larger. I am not sure because I have only owned 2080 Ti. Never had a 2080 to compare with.
