A little more about everything C8...

2020 C8 MID ENGINE CORVETTE! Everything you want to know in one video!
    Street FX Motorsport TV
    Published on Jul 19, 2019
The much anticipated release of the 2020 C8 Corvette was live streamed today, along with the release of snippets of information regarding several design and technological information.
We have compiled them all into one place for you here. One of the most exciting developments is that for the first time in the Corvette's 66 year history, it will be available in RHD, meaning that us Aussies will get a chance to secure one in the near future. The new Chevrolet Corvette will be powered by a 6.2-litre V8 with claimed outputs of 370kW and 637Nm, matched exclusively to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. With a claimed 0-60mph sprint in 2.8 seconds, this makes it the fastest Corvette ever. Pricing in the USA will start under $60,000 which is an incredible feat considering it will run against the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini, with a true supercar layout. According to Caradvice.com, a statement from Holden issued today said: “The news that Corvette will now be built in right-hand drive for the first time ever – and will be exported to Australia – is hugely exciting for our team at Holden and any Australian who loves high performance cars," said Dave Buttner, Holden chairman and managing director. Holden has also confirmed the Corvette will wear the iconic Chevrolet Corvette logos, and not Holden badging. “With our long history in motor-racing, performance vehicles are an indelible part of the Holden brand. Our team is totally revved up to build on Holden’s performance legacy with the most technologically advanced Corvette ever built," Buttner said. “We look forward to taking on the European and Japanese performance vehicles with some highly sophisticated American muscle.” Exact timing is yet to be determined, however CarAdvice understands the Corvette could be in Australian showrooms in either late 2020 or early 2021. Price is also yet to be confirmed but CarAdvice understands, having spoken to Holden dealers briefed on the vehicle, that the price will be somewhere between $100,000 and $150,000AUD.

Are you considering one? For those who live in the U.S., it's going to be difficult to beat the performance value of the C8. Seems people who wouldn't normally consider a Corvette, or even a two-seater, are potential buyers this time around.

The timing isn't right, and I like to wait for the 2nd or 3rd year before jumping in to a new model for a long term purchase like that, but that doesn't rule it out completely.

It's the first Corvette since 1969 that I am this excited for and would look forward to driving.

Let's see how it does in it's first year.

    The C8 pricing was released:
    https://www.chevrolet.com/content/d...ance/zerv-reveal/02-pdfs/Corvette_Pricing.pdf

There are a few video's covering configurations as well as ordering option timing - limitations on ordering specific options over the coming months - with manufacturing starting December 2019, with lots of popular options delivering much later...sad news, but not unexpected that $50k killer C8 is now more like a $60k-$100k killer C8.

You still can get a barebones C8 LT1 for $59.995k out the door. :)

The 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray was revealed as a real performance bargain, starting "under $60,000". Now the official pricing guide is here, showing its starting MSRP at $59,995. But what about the rest of the lineup?

This article has details of the Chevy pricing, but it's easier to read in the video:

    "Z51 Performance Package
The Z51 performance package maintains the same cost as it had in the C7 Corvette lineup. That was 5,000.00 and for that 5 grand you will get: performance exhaust, performance suspension, electronic limited slip differential, front splitter, rear spoiler, bigger front and rear brake rotors/calipers, Michelin pilot sport 4s tires, enhanced cooling with cooling ducts in the front, and a specific axel ratio.

Basically this is the package you want to get if you plan on tracking this car. It gives the car a lot of performance upgrades that you will need in any competitive driving scenarios.

    Front End Lift System
The front end lift was a highly talked about feature for the C8 Corvette. It is priced out on this sheet as well and it will cost you 1,495.00 and it will be worth every single cent. As you know by now the front end lift system has a GPS storage system that will automatically lift in any area you mark when you approach it which is an amazing twist on the typical front end lift idea."

There are lots of brand new C7 Corvette's out there, now with huge discounts, as much as $12K+ off of the 1LT C7 put's their new price at about $44k!!
    Example dealer Kerbeck C7 2019 discount specials.jpg
Lots of new C7 Corvettes on the lot ready to discount.jpg

Higher spec cars including C7 Gran Sports and C7 Z06's have even larger discounts. For $6K+ less than the price of a high spec C8 you can get a 600BHP C7 Z06 @ $14K discount, and with some negotiation you might be able save even more.

Delivery is such a long way away, and the Z51 / First models aren't going to be the "cat's meow", but are certainly very nice. Here's the next model in the release schedule, the Convertible - I hope it's out by beginning of Summer 2020.

Kinda slick, but there's already no trunk space so I wonder how much is left after the convertible folder parts are stowed. And, where the engine is vs. convertible hardware that might be tough access for engine work. Not as bad as the 9xx series, but it's gonna get crowded in there.

2020 Corvette C8 Convertible Roof Function From All Angles
    DPCcars
    Published on Oct 3, 2019
The two-piece top can be activated at speeds up to 30 mph and retract in as few as 16 seconds. It is powered by six electric motors — a Corvette first — and uses encoders for precise control. Switching to electric motors from hydraulic systems helps increase reliability. A body-colored roof is standard, while Carbon Flash metallic-painted nacelles and roof are optional.

Careful attention was paid to make sure the engine could breathe when stored underneath the tonneau cover. The sheet-molded composite top stows in a compartment made from lightweight composite panels and heat shields to manage heat from the engine.

A divider glass window in the middle of the vehicle can be power adjusted with the top up or down. The glass has been optimized to reduce air re-circulation and wind noise in the cabin for improved quietness. The roof system design, combined with the same rear spoiler used on the Stingray coupe’s Z51 Performance Package, results in identical drag between the coupe and convertible with the top up.

    2020 Corvette C8 Z51 Track Test! - One Take
    TheSmokingTire
    Published on Oct 15, 2019
This video was shot for the Road & Track Performance Car of the Year 2019 group test at Thunderhill Raceway West. Subscribe to R&T and keep print journalism alive! https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...
The C8 Corvette is here! Mid-engined, dual-clutched, fighter-plane-meets-Camaro styled, and far cheaper than Porsche 911's and the Acura NSX. With a 495 HP naturally-aspirated LT2 V8, double-wishbone suspension with mag ride, and the sport exhaust, this 3LT/Z51 car is the top of the initial C8 food chain, and makes us incredibly excited for future iterations, though less so for the base model. GM provided the vehicle, a LOT of tires, and mobile support at the track for this test.

2020 C8 Corvette: Hot Lap at Thunderhill West
    RoadandTrack
    Premiered 3 hours ago
As part of R&T's 2020 Performance Car of the Year testing, we lapped the contenders at Thunderhill Raceway's west course to get a baseline of what they could do. That included the C8 Corvette with the Z51 package. Our EIC Travis Okulski was driving these laps, and there are a few things we should make clear before you view the video and then hit the comments:
    - He's not a pro, but is a licensed club racer.
    - This is the first day he's ever spent at Thunderhill West, so the lap isn't perfect.
    - The idea isn't to run an all-out record, but instead to make sure we get a representative time for the car.
Check out our full review of the C8 here: https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...

2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray – First Drive
    Kelley Blue Book
    Published on Oct 15, 2019
After decades of anticipation we finally get to drive a mid-engine Corvette. Hallelujah! The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a mid-engine supercar with naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8, an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, a removable roof panel, and a zero to sixty time of less than 3 seconds when equipped with the Z51 Performance Package. As dazzling as its performance credentials is the new Corvette’s starting price under $60,000. How does all that automotive potential translate to the open road? Kelley Blue Book’s Karl Brauer was fortunate to get an early test drive in the 2020 Corvette and is here to share his impressions.
