So my GT75-8RG is still going strong. I have an upgrade bug again though...

So, I see there is now a GT76 AND a GT75 with the 2080's in them. I know the GT76 is fairly new, looks better than the GT75 but loses the fully mechanical keyboard and goes back to chicklets. Also the GT76 has improved cooling etc etc. I also noticed that instead of a BGA socket its now a desktop CPU but they went to a soldered GPU.

Are these 2 worth even getting to replace my GT75 w/1080 or is there something better out there now?

Hey @Ultra Male I read you sold your GT75, what did you get to replace it?

GT76 has the slightly better CPU afaik, but the GPU is soldered, aside from that the GPU is the same VBIOS I think but the 76 has the superior CPU. I wouldn't really consider either one, as the GT76 is pricey and yet soldered GPU compared to the 51m, and the 75 is soldered CPU and MXM is basically dead but tbf its gotten this far so you might hold hope for a 3070/3080

I also don't see anything about OriginPC. I know they are a Clevo re brander but all videos etc are years old.

GT76 will work much more noisy, because it has 4 fans, 2 of which are small. Compared to the GT75 which has only 2 large.
In addition, I find 9900 redundant for a laptop and too hot. So I would put 8700k here that would be perfect.

Above all there is a $1000 difference between the GT75 and GT76....

Both with same specs other than refresh rates and the CPU.

CPU update is doubtful. Because the next generation Intel will probably be on a new socket. So you can forget about updating the CPU. 9900K is the finish

9900k in a laptop is stupid anyways, hence why I am leaning towards the GT75 with the 2080, or the new Area51 with a 9700k and a 2080. Ill just give this 1080 rig to my kid.
