    2018 Apple iPad Pro Review

Lisa Gade reviews Apple’s 3rd gen iPad Pro for 2018, now available in 11” and 12.9” sizes. We use the 12.9” iPad Pro for this review. The new iPads start at $799 and $999 and are available with optional Gigabit 4G LTE and storage up to 1TB storage. They run iOS 12 on the insanely fast Apple A12X Bionic CPU. They have Liquid Retina LCD displays supporting the new Apple Pencil 2 and a magnetic connector for accessories like the Smart Keyboard Cover. Face ID replaces Touch ID, USB-C replaces the Lightning connector and they sport a new straight-sided design.

The new iPad Pro has unreal hardware. Incredible power. And beautiful design... but it's still an iPad.

iPad Pro 2018 Review: Can it really be your computer?

Does Apple's insistence that "It's a computer" finally deliver for the iPad Pro three years later? It's my review of the good and bad from Apple's 3rd generation iPad Pro.

What Apple says Pro it should at least pass Jerryrig's Endurance test or MIL certifications. I don't know what to say, their design language is becoming outdated when they mask it as simplicity.

Does the PlayStation 4 Pro meet that standard? Dell Venue 8 Pro? Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro? Samsung Chromebook Pro?

If not, why demand that Apple meet that standard to use the term Pro?

Its because of the cost and marketed as sort of laptop replacement that costs higher than macbook air (I'm comparing 12" ipad pro with MBA base model)

The term pro, this instance means professional photo, graphics and office use. Not professional demolitions experts. Seriously people.

Yeah I understand that but also take it into consideration when an iPad which you were reading your keynote presentation or spreadsheet or any document and you leave your ipad in your cabin and return to your cabin to find iPad is cleaning itself when a glass of water is suddenly on your iPad and you don't have backups of that even in iCloud because it was late night work and I/anyone don't use lightning based flash drive and your colleagues look sideways and say we didn't do it and we were never in your cabin.

    1. Thats not the fault of the designation of the device,
    2. That is entirely the fault of the user being designated as pro when they were obviously not! :p

Is this one of those "this one time at band camp" stories?

It was sort of a joke, but, in your situation, the fact that something is called pro or not has NOTHING to do with that scenario. Again, the ipad pro is called PRO for professional photographers, graphics creators etc ...not for being indestructible because of dumb friends.
