    Hello,

i got a AW 17 R4 and soon it will ran out of warranty.
I’m very happy with it and everything is fine with the notebook. But I’m thinking about selling it because soon the warranty is gone.

How do you handle it with your Alienware notebooks ? How is the quality in general ? Would you recommend me to hold the book or to sell it and buy a new one with warranty again ?

As long as it runs well, doesnt overheat and you regulary clean the fans it will run for many years. Probably. Ofc there is chance of something failing but its unhealthy to speculate about that, enjoy your machine.

I never had such problem. Lol maybe one time ... But it was 2nd hand .. But most of the time ... new or used , gpu have never fail on me. I have been with Alienware since the M15X R1/M17X R1. These were built to last...the newer models , I don't know about.

Check my signature to see how happy I can be out of warranty. I've only had one 6990M (from accident), one 7970M (early build), and one 780M (no clue) fail on me, rest have been perfect.

And to be fair all 3 of those cards were prone to overheating.
The 7970's + 6990's were very hot cards.

If you would have had lets say the 680M - it would have been a much more reliable card in the M18X R2 vs the 7970M.

    and the GTX 560M in the M18X R1 - the 580M (675M rebranded - also overheated a LOT)

@Proxx - extend the warranty with dell just before christmas they will give you a good 50-60% off around this to extend for a further 3 years.

You can extend the warranty but there's a waiting period on service request after warranty extension.
