Happened to my bros AW13. Soldering that EDP port takes extreme skills but eventually that motherboard died. Replaced with a refurbished one.

Just be careful when removing the EDP connector or when inserting the connector. I would have attached a screen shot but i am in a hurry. What I wanted to point out of that if you look at the the "first image you posted. The top and bottom has these grey squares on each side. The gray means the pads where ripped off with the connector. These two pads keep the connector EDP connector..trying to find the. right words... it basically holds down the connector. this being said you you ever need to seperate the cable from the connector BE SURE to gently pull the cable away from the connector in a parallel motion, basically DO NOT accidentally lift the EDP cable to disconnect the cable. Sense those 2 pads were ripped off with the original connector there is no solder to hold how the replaced connector. The only thing holding the connector down is the data/power pins. If i did the job I would have felt bad and used a special epoxy on the both sides of the connector so you would have to worry about this again. but that i just me. I assume she is trying to run a business and only does the bare minimum so that unit works. This job probably took here about less than 10 mins to do. it is a very easy fix with the right soldering technique and the right tools.

I am really happy you got it fixed though! congrats! Also dah Mr.Fox was correct when i mentioned "clean-pull" the pins' pads were not ripped off there board. it would have been a much more serious job to get the connector to work if the pads for the pin where ripped off.

AND AGAIN CONGRATZ!!!!!! You did a great job breaking the connector, it could have been worse and so you are one luck person!
