now I know this is not the specific forum for this, but some of us surely love reading up on 1080 and it's progress.

I have been telling people it was not going to be spectacularly faster then a 980 Ti, and some comparisons are out now, though not conclusive.

Just wondering your thoughts, and how it will affect the MOBILE versions, and such down the road this year.

I was reading that earlier today. I think waiting for the 1080Ti in SLI is all you will need to be able to max out all games in 4K with 60FPS Minimum.. Should bring excellent performance gains to the laptops if they can keep the thermals under control. Wonder how long until the mobile versions are released?

Gtx 1080 has been a massive disappointment for me. I'll keep my 980ti and get a 8 core instead.

Yeah they are bargains now. I was temped to get a second one the other day. I just had to remind myself how crap 980 sli was and that saw to those impulses.
If I had a 4k screen frametimes might not be such a noticeable issue. But I'm always shooting for high fps at a peasant 1080p.

That won't be enough for me considering the extra benefits that come with the 1080 lineup.. The new multi screen correction, much better VR etc.. 1080Ti in SLI will hit the sweet spot, whenever that gets released...

If you use 3 screens sure. I use a 4K 56" 60hz screen that is curved and pretty much covers my field of view 100%. No benefit for me to go to 1080 at all. I have my 980Ti's running at 1550Mhz on the core. So, like 50% OC, and they for sure beat Sli 1080 at stock.

You know, for 1080N it might even be, that it's not a great card at all. Who is going to use 2-3 monitors for surround gaming on a laptop, or use it for VR ? ACtually VR is more likely IMO.

Stick the laptop in a knapsac and on your back, connect tethered via wifi and use your VIVE, your wireless gaming VR on the go ! Go and do THAT in public while waiting for the bus to school !

The is my 980ti Hybrid and a 5820k
    :p

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/8352084?

Not much of difference at all...about 5% on the GPU score.

Why is that the best you can get out of at 1080 Hybrid? Is the 8 pin power limiting you?

Not to sound like a bi$ch, but that's why I'm waiting for the 1080ti. What did you have before?
