Of corse i know that the 2MP is better, but is there a realy noticable difference while video chatting on say, msn or yahoo messenger? much of a difference?

Actually, I really don't think a 2MP webcam is much better, because

    a) It can really get laggy when you try to record at this resolution
    b) The picture is usually too grainy to be clear at high resolution

So personally, I think that a 1.3MP webcam is pretty similar to a 2MP one.

NO, even a 0.3MP (640x480) is fine for video chatting. Even to chat at 640x480 you need a considerable amount of bandwidth (around 400kbps).

^^agreed. And the lower resolution will give better "fluidity" of motion! So not really a downside to your situation.

Yeah I had one of those older HP pavilions (not that old, maybe mid 2007) and they said "1.3 MP camera", but now, I know HP pavilions use 0.3 MP cameras because they use CONSIDERABLY less bandwidth, therefore the video chatting is going to be WAY less choppy, and it's better for low-light situations. It's all the same on video chatting, it's not like you're gonna take landscape photos with your laptop eh?

MSN Messenger doesn't transfer all of the PQ over to the other side.

Well, it's just a waste of money. just get 0.3 or 1.3! No need for 2.0:)

LOL yeah pull out your laptop, put it on a tripod and start taking pics of beautiful landscapes! Lmao I'd start throwing stuff at you cause you'd look sooo stupid LOL.

Phones on the other hand, don't get me started, cameras on them are going up like crazy. I use an iPhone at the moment (In canada, however) and the camera's okay at 2 MP, but I plan to get a Nokia N95 (5 MP camera) or an LG viewity (also 5 MP). Lol sorry I'm getting a little off topic, I'm just a real pro at phones! Sorry!
