I have one of these laptops and the thermals are so horrible. I am thinking about contacting alienware.... The GPU literally crashed out of the box multiple times due to overheating. Right now I can keep it at bay with Ryzen Controller.

I've taken apart laptops before but I am not sure if I should contact dell first before I try to repaste it...

Also I would use Thermalright TFX as I have used this one before to repaste laptops specifically.

Well I was going to contact their support and see what they want to do for me. It did crash out of the box over and over again. Like I said I can keep it at bay with Ryzen Controller + full fan speed if I game. Otherwise it just crashes out with the default fan profile.
The RTX 3070 crashes in 10 minutes of gaming in multiple games, hitting 87C GPU core temp and going into some "recovery" mode where it can only do 425mhz clockspeed and ~30W.
Then I have to close the game and make the GPU turn off and then reopen the game before it will run properly again.

The 3060 in the Ryzen Edition run 87C without crashing in the Notebookcheck review. All Ampere series graphics cards have same temp limits. And 3070 shouldn't be any different than the 3060.

So far all the reviews of the laptop basically use the 3060 version... The hot spot in that screenshot is also over 90C and this is when my GPU just crashes out and goes into recovery mode. There is basically a pause in the game for a second and then the fps drops to around ~30 because the GPU won't go over 400mhz.
I installed the new BIOS that adds the CUDA cores back but it didn't do anything. The laptop actually ran a couple C cooler after that.

Funny that the sleep problem is from the BIOS. I just noticed this last night. I closed the laptop and it woke up instead of went to sleep.... however I did actually get it to go to sleep after I opened it and pressed the button.... however closing the lid wakes it up again until it goes to sleep again.
I think that this user might have an issue with the lid because I don't have this issue if the power profile puts it to sleep.

My old AW never recovers from sleep. It gets stuck at black screen on both Linux and Windows

Mine has no issues with that, it is just weird that even if it is already asleep it will wake up when I close the lid...
