    Hi all,

I am current in the market for a new laptop. I would have gone for a desktop but sadly I have no space to put a large machine permanently. Mobility is therfore not important. I want to buy it before 2018 so I still have some time to wait for any new releases.

    General Questions

    1) What is your budget?

    Up to 2800 dollar (euro).

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
    3) Where will you buying this notebook?

    The Netherlands

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    No

    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed.

    No

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?

Gaming. If I have to put the quality settings down to medium, I die a little inside.

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?

My laptop will be moved from the table, to the closet and back. It will never leave the house.

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?

    Warhammer total war
    Call of duty ww2
    Rpg's (dragon age)
    RTS (AOE4)
    GTA5

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need?

    0. If I am gaming, I will have a wall socket close-by .

    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?

Online purchase without first seeing it is fine.

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (Windows 7 / 8), Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS, etc.

Doesnt matter, I prefer buying a laptop without an OS so I can use one of the numerous windows 10 licences I still have laying around.

    Screen Specifics

    12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer?

I prefer 1920*1080. I intend to use the laptop for approximately 4 years. Anything more than 1920*1080 will render my laptop useless (settings on high) in 2 years because of the limited graphic calculation power.

    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? (Scroll down to see explanations.)

Don't have a preference. I am interested in gsync and possibly a 120 hz screen. However, I have never gamed on a 120 hz screen so I am not sure if it is worth the money. The screen quality is important to me.

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

Computational power over looks. Function over looks (so mechanical keyboard can be advantageous).

    15) When are you buying this laptop?

    Preferably before 2018.

    16) How long do you want this laptop to last?

    Approximately 4 years.

    Notebook Components

    17) How much hard drive space do you need? Do you want a SSD drive?

SSD drive is preferred. Enough room to have three large games installed is preferred. The laptop will not be used for anything else than gaming. So additional hard disk space for movies, files etc. Is not necessary.

    18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD Burner, Blu-ray Reader or Blu-Ray Burner?

    No

Thank you! I am not sure what you mean with delidded? Also, I assume that for the Clevo models I should just go for the cheapest parts available in the configuration?
