Default SONY VAIO S BIOS MOD For GT640M LE

WARNING! : CURRENTLY THE BIOS MOD IS NOT SUPPORTED FOR WINDOWS 8 MODEL OF VAIO S YET!

This thread is about BIOS MOD for the GT640M LE.

STOCK BIOS used for this test : R0142C5

    STOCK BIOS Source : Sony eSupport - SVS13A15GDB - Drivers & Software

BIOS Compatibility : Please check the MD5 Checksum of your model BIOS and make sure it is the same as above.
By right it should be able to work on all of the S 2012 series. Just do a check to get a peace of mind.

    What does it do?
Increase the stock 500MHz Base clock and Memory Clock.

There are multiple version (MOD created by svl7 and me) :
    625MHz - svl7
    735MHz - svl7
    835MHz - svl7
    850MHz - Me
    900MHz - Me
    935MHz - Me
    950MHz - svl7
    975MHz - Me
    1000MHz - Me

    No voltage increase.

BIG BIG CREDITS TO THE FIRST MODDER : svl7 from TECHINFERNO

    Stock (500MHz) :

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz,Sony Corporation VAIO score: P1397 3DMarks

    VS

    OC (950MHz) :

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz,Sony Corporation VAIO score: P2231 3DMarks

    90% Overclock!

With Memory OC to 1165MHz :

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz,Sony Corporation VAIO score: P2358 3DMarks

3DMark11 by Faceless Rebel on i7-3612QM

    The disclaimer
(copied and modified from Sony Vaio SA/SB/SC/SE Advanced Menu BIOS Hack) :

There is no warranty or support at all. Don't use this if you are unexperienced with computers. All you do with this BIOS is on your own risk! Flashing is a dangerous process. Make backups of your data. Your warranty may void with flashing this hack. All settings in BIOS get stored in the flash rom. Disconnecting the RTC battery will NOT reset the BIOS settings since they are non-volatile. If you fail, there is no return since BIOS recovery is unavailable to new sony laptops.

The only thing changed from the BIOS is only on the GT640M LE, the rest remain.
BUT STILL, PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND TAKE OWN RESPONSIBILITY!

    PROCEDURE :
    -Unzip the downloaded file.
    -Run the InsydeFlash file.
    -WAIT until it finishes flashing!
    -Restart your laptop.
    -Have fun!

    ADDITIONAL INFO 1 :
You may experience that when you run benchmark, games, or any application, but your Clock seems to be not at par as the Base clock.

    Please follow the instructions
Make sure you set to priority to ventilation :

    AND :
Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3d Settings -> Select the app you want to run full clock -> Select high performance nvidia processor on the option 2 -> Select Prefer Maximum Performance for the Power management mode.

    OR

Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3d Settings -> Global Settings -> Select Prefer Maximum Performance for the Power management mode.
Now, all the app should run in Maximum clock.

You should be able to run at full clock afterwards.

    ADDITIONAL INFO 2:
Currently there is a bug with GPU-Z, it will make your clock stays at FULL even when not doing anything(gaming, benchmark, etc).

The only way for your clock to stay or goes back to idle(135) is by closing the GPU-Z when not using it OR open up MSI AB at the same time if you want the GPU-Z to remain in the background.

This will definitely saves your battery when you're not plugged in.

First you open nvidiainspector and click "Create Clocks Shortcut"

Then you modify the Target Path in Properties to whatever specs you want with the format below:

Ok this is exactly what the path in the shortcut for the Overclock should be

    Overclock:

    C:\Users\USERNAME\nvidiaInspector\nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,0 -setGpuClock:0,1,1000 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,100

    That's for 1000/1000 Mhz
If you want 950/1000 MHz you change what values XXXX are to 950 "-setGpuClock:0,1,XXXX"

If you want to up the Memory Clocks just do it with the slider in nvidiainspector.

    Default:

    C:\Users\USERNAME\nvidiaInspector\\nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,16 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,0

Sets the GPU clock to back to default GPU Clock to 500 MHz and the Memory Clock to 900 MHz

Think of the shortcuts as Overclock and Default for ON and OFF

is it a permanent overclock? ie, everything my system boot it will run at that clock? or it merely raises the upper limit?

    Yes, a permanent base clock.

But in idle it will still run as usual (135MHz).

Something wrong with the Boost features.
    It just wont work.
The modder need more time to figure that out.

Depend on which MOD, the temp raised from 4c to 7c.

I'll test this out. The base clock being 950mhz is pretty funny, if your GPU can't handle it and something in your boot sequence makes it clock up to the 3D clocks, your laptop will immediately crash I bet.

Okay, I have downloaded the BIOS files from CA and US sections of Sony sites. The MD5 checksums match, these files are identical.
