Default VPC-Z1: Running dual-monitor at lower GPU speed (and lower temps)

I have a Vaio VPC-Z13 and typically use a second monitor, which requires using the Nvidia GPU (unless you use VGA). The GPU utilises "Powermizer" that adjusts the clock speed depending on usage. However, when you connect a second monitor, it always put's the card on its "high performance" setting (maximum clock speed), which results in higher temps and a louder fan.

To resolve this, you can turn off powermizer and manually set the performance level to 1. However, this web-site puts forward a better approach:

Dual Monitor Power-Saving Mode (Nvidia cards) Fix

Since doing this (and installing the nVidia inspector), the temps are lower, the fan is quieter, and I haven't seen any problems running the GPU at a slower speed while using a second monitor.

I thought it was worth posting it here, in case anyone else also suffered from the same problem.
