VPC Z13 Lcd Panel Upgrade BIG PROBLEM
Hi folks !
As I've cracked my hd+ panel up, I decided to order to a LT131EE11000.
After replacing the panel, I faced a big issue as there were no backlight on my brand new panel !
I tried to switch back to the old one but it turned out that it wasn't shining anymore too !!!
I contacted guys at Laptop Screens | Laptop Screen | Replacement Laptop Screens to explain my problem.
They said me I had probably fried up some SMD on the MoBo !
Does someone figures out what should I do to resolve this ?

Sounds like you have blown the fuse on the motherboard. Take some detailed photos of the motherboard (both sides), specifically areas near the LCD connector. Someone will chime in here and point you to the tiny fuse and how to repair it.

Re: VPC Z13 Lcd Panel Upgrade BIG PROBLEM
Thank you for the answer, but
I have to admit that it puzzles me a bit, you think there is a fuse only for the backlight. I mean, I know there is a fuse for the main power supply (a white one located underneath the mobo).
In fact my laptop can run, the only thing is that I have no more backlight on my screen ( i can see a very dim picture on the panel by lighting it with a light torch )
It would be really nice if you guys could help me fix this.

Could be the inverter or could be something like this:
Dark screen - not inverter or backlight

Yep, I had the idea the idea to check for the magnetic switch. I can turn the laptop to sleep by placing a neodymium magnet in front of it, is it enough to say that it is not the origin of my issue ?

Re: VPC Z13 Lcd Panel Upgrade BIG PROBLEM
I've replaced the screen on my Z1 and disconnected it twice. It should be relatively straightforward to replace the screen with one of the same type.
As I understand it, the FHD screens need more power to display at the same brightness than the smaller screen. Smaller mesh due to the smaller pixels or something. There was a youtube video on it somewhere.
I'm guessing the new screen pulled too much juice and burnt something out. (stop being right, Beaups, geez).
Only other thing I can think of would be clipping one of the wires on the VGA cable. They are very delicate. I stressed on whether I would damage one during my transplant.
My Z1 is disassembled right now, so take some pics and I'll do a comparison for you.
You can fake putting the machine to sleep with a magnet. Run a neodymium magnet across the lower part of the palm rest. The magnet doesn't need to be very powerful, so don't use anything too strong.Sony Z VPCZ21SHX/X | Intel i7-2620M | 8GB RAM | 2x256GB/512GB SSD RAID 0 | 1920x1080 | BluRay
