Re: WQXGA (2560x1600) on Z1 WITHOUT ViDock (it works! but I need some help)
I am waiting for the refresh so I can get the color that I want.
It is already proven that the Z2 can drive WQHD (2560x1440), we are pretty sure that it will drive WQXGA also. Have a look at the following thread
[SUCCESS] 2560x1440 support on new VPC-Z2 (Dell U2711)
Keep in mind you may not have to do all that DTD stuff, you can probably just install my EDID driver. I'll let you know when I get one. Either way the bandwidth is there, we know the Z2 can drive it directly using the Intel Graphics. The really interesting question is can it drive two, one from the lappy and one from the PMD. In theory it should be able to with drivers only.Z1290X: Win8 | i7 | FHD | 2x Intel X18 RAID0 320GB | 8GB RAM | Premium Carbon | BIOS Hack | nVidia 3D Vision | Intel 6230 WiFi/BT 3.0HS | Gobi Unlocked | GTExpress WWAN | ViDock4+ GTX570 | DELL U3011 | Ext Batt | Z-Dock & VAIO USB Dock | VAIO BT Keyboard | Razor Orochi

Re: WQXGA (2560x1600) on Z1 WITHOUT ViDock (it works! but I need some help)
Hi ComputerCowboy, I purchased a Dell U3011 and would like to connect it to my laptop with HDMI cable.
I followed all the steps in the first post but it keeps giving me "test failed".
This type of hack you can do it with the HDMI-> HDMI or is required cable HDMI-> DVI ???
NB. Sorry for my bad english.

Re: WQXGA (2560x1600) on Z1 WITHOUT ViDock (it works! but I need some help)
Hey there,
I tried your guide for setting up my LG Flatron W3000H, "powered" by a Mobility Radeon HD5650 out of an Acer Aspire 8943G.
(Technical data for LG W3000H-BN - LCD Monitor at dooyoo.co.uk)
First Problem: I can't set up custom resolutions like you did, since ATI does not support custom resolutions. Did it anyway through regedit.exe.. (but i guess this is secondary since you only seem to need it for the pixel clock)..
I opened phoenix and moninfo, installed the driver as you described it and rebooted. I am now (finally) able to change the resolution to 2560x1600, yet the screen turns black and stays that way.. I dont want to use the screen with 1280x800 (only second supported resolution).. any ideas? Im not sure if he likes the 30 Hz..
P.S.: going from the HDMI output (1.3a) with an adapter (not sure if single or dual-link - is this important?) to the dual-link DVI-cable and then into the w3000h
P.P.S.: The Mobility Radeon 5650 is said to have 1 analog (up to 2048x1536), one Dual-Link DVI - HDCP supported (up to 2560x1600), one HDMI (up to 1920x1200) and one display port (up to 2560x1600) port.. well; guess which two of those my laptop has.. As i guess, youre trying to half the data that needs to be transmitted to the monitor (60 Hz -> 30 Hz) and thereby bypass the limited capacity of HDMI.. correct me if I'm wrong..Last edited by Leza; 4th December 2011 at 02:03 PM.

Re: WQXGA (2560x1600) on Z1 WITHOUT ViDock (it works! but I need some help)
Wow! this is great article. I have a u3011 at my office connected to VPCZ-1190xCTO - i7, 8G RAM, 512 SSD & NVIDIA 330M using HDMI. ( Already ordered HDMI- DVI).
Is it enough just use the" inf file generated from pheonix" to update the driver OR do I need to do any changes at NVIDIA control panel to get 2560X1600 resolution? ( using Speed mode)
Thanks in advance.

Re: WQXGA (2560x1600) on Z1 WITHOUT ViDock (it works! but I need some help)
Not a Z-series owner but F-series. Haven't got a U3011 but I'm considering buying one. That sorta rests on the ability to use it at the full resolution though. Wondering if this hack will work on my F12? Too bad there's not a U3011 I could try this on. Could go ahead and get it and see if this works, but it'd be pain if it doesn't.
