    What drivers are you running?
    I had a go with the 285's on Windows 7. Laptop is in repair right now but I'll be going full static mode with my next install.

    I'm wondering though if it still switches profile automatically (aka if you boot with Speed do you get Performance etc)...

    With the machine powered off switch the switch to speed and it boots nVidia
    with the machine powered off switch the switch to stamina and you get intel

    alternately if you are booted in speed you can switch to stamina and reboot or vice versa.

    A cold boot or warm reboot is required to switch modes.

    Well yeah, I totally understand that, I'm just wondering if it switches the power profiles in Windows too like it does when you're on the hybrid drivers.

    Stamina -> Power Saver
    Auto -> Balanced
    Speed -> High Performance

    (but it probably doesn't)

    I just hope I get my Z back soon so I can try it out.

    I just wanted to say thanks for your work, the instructions were easy to follow and it is working well.

    There is one problem I am having however, when using the NVIDIA chip (speed mode) it no longer detects my VGA monitor. I can force it to connect anyway, but then it won't let me select the correct resolution (1440x900), so it's really annoying having to use a lower resolution that isn't in the correct ratio.

    When I use the Intel chip, it detects the monitor (make and model shows up), and then I can select the optimum resolution. When using the Hybrid drivers from the other thread I never had this problem either.

    Can anyone help me how I can either mod the drivers so they detect my monitor, or force the correct resolution. I've also tried using the force resolution feature in the NVIDIA control panel, but it won't work either.

    Thanks again for your work ComputerCowboy!

    my theory is that the INF mod that I did is not optimal, and the only negative side is VGA support via nVidia. I have been meaing to create a more optimal INF mod based on the recent comments in this thread... but I haven't found the time yet. I haven't been that motivated because I never use the VGA anyway, too busy driving my Ultrasharp at 2560x1600 or my 3D projector @120hz 720P. VGA is useless to me. That doesn't mean I don't care about your problem, but it does mean It takes me longer to investigate fixing it.

    I'm not sure about all that, I think maybe windows remembered if you set power saver on intel and high perf on nvidia. Windows remembers lots of stuff about different monitors and such, I knows what to do when I dock and undock. I haven't used stamina mode for a while, haven't really been on the go at all recently.

    Ahh, I was wondering about this. With the bios mod, and the 2.8026 drivers, my VGA gives me a max output resolution of 1600x1200 :/

    I posted a similar thing here:

    No nvidia multiple display

    Not resolved on that thread.
    Why don't you guys start with some fresh drivers from nVidia and try this method in this post?

    Let me know if it resolves your issue, if it does, I'll update the patch program to do that instead. I would try all this myself but I have too much work right now and no time to mess with a VGA issue that doesn't affect me... sorry.

    Thanks for the tip! That method works perfectly, and my Z12 now properly detects the resolution of my external, VGA monitor. (1440x900)
