OK to Uninstall Vaio Messenger?
The last two days on the Z I've been getting a popup from Vaio Messenger with some errors. I'm not really sure what they are or how to get rid of them, but I find it irritating. Would it be recommended to get rid of Vaio Messenger, or will something else be messed up because of it?
A way to not get the error would be a nice fix as well.

Re: OK to Uninstall Vaio Messenger?
I uninstalled it when I got my F13 and did not experience any problems. And when I did my clean install I did not install it at all and everything works great.

Re: OK to Uninstall Vaio Messenger?
I think its primary purpose is to remind you how much Sony sucks at building software.

Re: OK to Uninstall Vaio Messenger?
You can always uninstall it and live happily forever thereafter.
or you can do some checks just to make sure it's not due to some other problems, like corrupted sectors/files or broken hardware.
Run event viewer. Look around and before the time this thing showed up.
Also, google the exact same message. I suspect you're not the only one who had this problem, in which case, we can probably attribute the source of the problem to the incompetence of certain Sony's programmers.Sony Vaio Z VPCZ1290X/Leather Black Core i7-620m 256GB SSD 8GB RAM 1920x1080 Vaio Premium Display (so happy

Re: OK to Uninstall Vaio Messenger?
I don't really see anything in Event Viewer that looks troublesome. I didn't really do anything to immediately trigger this popup message. I think I'll just uninstall it the next time I get an error. Thanks for the replies!
Yes, Sony software in general sucks. I do have Vegas but I haven't played around with it yet, though.SVZ131190X i7-3612QM | Premium Glossy CF | 512GB SSD | 8GB | 1080p | PMD Blu-Ray

Re: OK to Uninstall Vaio Messenger?
OK I might've messed something up. As I was installing ~14 Windows Updates, I also uninstalled Vaio Messenger from the control panel. After the Windows updates, it required a restart of the computer. I restarted it, and after it booted back up, I was unhappy with the fan constantly running. I believe the irratic fan noise was a direct result of the Windows updates so I restored Windows to an earlier point in time. This made the fan noise go away, but on the control panel, it still shows Vaio Messenger as installed. I try to uninstall it, but nothing happens. I think this glitch/error is because I restored windows to an earlier point in time after I've uninstalled the program.
During the same computer session I got another popup that looks exactly like the Vaio Messenger one, but this one says Center Stage. I have no clue how to get rid of this popup and that weird arrow thing on the left (aside from clicking "x" but I want to uninstall it). Control panel does not recognize Center Stage as a program I have installed. Any suggestions?

Re: OK to Uninstall Vaio Messenger?
I wouldn't worry too much about it. It doesn't change the fact that your copy of Vaio Messenger is broken (it's just that now it's more broken than usual
). You can just stop it from running on start-up using msconfig.
If you prefer a cleaner way of doing things, here's what I'd do: remove vaio messenger's entry from the list of installed programs using one of those tools one can easily find on download.com, re-install vaio messenger, and then uninstall it.
This is assuming the new error messages that you get come from vaio messenger.
If it comes from a shared component (used by other sony programs as well), then you ought to re-install all sony related things (including vaio messenger), and then uninstall vaio messenger.
If it doesn't come from sony, well, I'd use a process explorer or spy++ to look at which process the error message window belongs to, find the process's file location, and figure out what to do from there, e.g. if it's in a program folder in c:\program files, I'd see if I can uninstall that particular program using control panel. Otherwise I'll just rename it, reboot, make sure windows doesn't go stupid, and delete it for real.Sony Vaio Z VPCZ1290X/Leather Black Core i7-620m 256GB SSD 8GB RAM 1920x1080 Vaio Premium Display (so happy
