    Everything works great.

I really noticed the difference going from 3gb to 4gb when I first ran the hack. The main improvement on Vista/Windows 7 is down to it caching your apps etc using Superfetch. This meant that launching apps was quicker AND compiling in Visual Studio was much faster.
After having been running 32-bit Windows for a while I have finally decided to discard the PAE solution, because for most programs each single process can only use up to 2GB. 64-bit OS is the best solution to me.

Is that the "Readyfor4GB" hack or something else?

    Hi everyone,

A quick question for anyone else with 4GB of RAM (or higher) installed in their SZs that is also running a 64-bit OS (2003/XP, Vista, or 7):

Can you put the notebook into hibernate; does the Hibernation Tab appear under Power Options?

I just wanted to confirm that this limitation is, in fact true:

You cannot put a computer that has more than 4 GB of memory into hibernation in Windows XP, in Windows Server 2003, in Windows Vista, or in Windows Server 2008

    Thanks!

I put 8GB RAM in my Vaio SZ650 today, which works fine.

The only requirement was to install BIOS R0122S5 as I was running an older version that couldn't see all the RAM and wouldn't boot at all with more than 4GB installed.

Once the price comes down I plan to do the same, if I still have my SZ by then.

Which brand did you buy? I want to put 8G in my Sz650 also. It will be appreciated if you tell me exactly where and which brand did you get so that I won't get someting incompatible.

    Thanks

Borrowing this thread just to ask a quick question.

According to Sony limit is 2gb for the sz1 with gm945. Anyone know how much you can increase it with?

Googling I found 4gb should be possible but due to Memory-mapping (mmio ??) only 3gb is possible. Figured someone here has tried and could answer?!

3.12gb, for the older models there is a BIOS limitation.
