Vista SP1 Nvidia Drivers for 7400 Go
I installed Vista SP1 RTM on my SZ330P. All the drivers worked, but the performance of Sony's release of the Nvidia video driver for the 7200 Go left a lot to be desired. Very low contrast during video playback and no way to adjust it is the main problem.
I tried some other Nvidia drivers from laptopvideo2go. They appeared to work, but when I switched back to the Intel 945 mode, there was an error message, "rundll" will not run.
Microsoft's release or the driver does not support changing the brightness of the screen.
Anyone around here successfully using any particular build of Nvidia driver with SP1?

Take a look at my signature and download nvidia and intel video drivers from the link. They are the latest official drivers that should work fine with your system.

Re: Vista SP1 Nvidia Drivers for 7400 Go
That is a link for an XP driver, Hendra. I need one for Vista.
PS, 165.01 worked, the 167 and 169 series drivers did not.Last edited by leadweight; 8th March 2008 at 06:56 PM.

Re: Vista SP1 Nvidia Drivers for 7400 Go
Sorry, I didn't read that you have Vista. Try Windows Update first, see if they have the latest driver. If you can't see the driver listed in Windows Update, download the latest nvidia driver from here and Intel Driver from here.
You will need to manually extract the Nvidia driver before you can install. Use Universal Extractor to manually extract the driver.Last edited by hendra; 8th March 2008 at 07:10 PM.

Turns out 165.01 did not work, it would not keep its settings after a reboot. BTW, the Intel drivers from windows update work perfectly.

Re: Vista SP1 Nvidia Drivers for 7400 Go
This worked. In fact, the driver installed without any error messages and universal extractor is a really cool program for which I can think of a few other uses. I did an uninstall of the original Sony supplied driver, although that only removed the Nvidia control panel components. For this reason I don't know if this driver would install the registry entries that make the Fn key dimming work, but at least they work as I did things.
@BorjaZD
I tried the 169.09 drivers and had problems, but I am glad they worked for you. Its generally reported the 169.09 driver is very fast.

Re: Vista SP1 Nvidia Drivers for 7400 Go
I'd say the crashing problem is most likely related to SP1, as you are probably using a beta build. The RTM is not available to the public yet. I'm also guessing that you didn't have crashing issues until you installed the service pack.

Re: Vista SP1 Nvidia Drivers for 7400 Go
Well, I have SP1 RTM for starters, and yes the crashing issue is more than likely related to SP1 and the fact that the Laptopvideo2go drivers use a hacked inf that was not tested with SP1. However, the drivers and procedure recommended by Hendra do work without issues, just in case anyone wants to know.
Eventually, there will be some post SP1 Nvidia drivers which should support the new power management features in SP1. Whether Sony dishes these up for folks that bought SZ3xx & Sz4xx computers over a year ago is anyone's guess. A new Sigmatel audio driver with the SP1 power management would be nice as well.

Re: Vista SP1 Nvidia Drivers for 7400 Go
The drivers from laptopvideo2go have numerous problems with my SZ too. And this is not limited to Vista. I have original Vista and XP SP2 dual boot and the respected drivers from laptopvideo2go have issues. If you want to have all functionality working, the best way to get it is to download from Sony. You just have to search for the latest drivers. You may not get it from your specific model but since all Nvidia drivers from Sony are universal, you usually can download the latest one from whatever model you can find, extract it with Universal Extractor and install it. Note: If your video card is listed in the INF file, you should not have any problem installing the driver.
