Where are Sony Laptops made?

So I was just wondering. I am going to call up dell to return my inspiron 1520 for a Sony Vaio CR Series, maybe a FZ series laptop.

Where are they made? If it is made in Japan, i'd be happy. If it's made in china.. im pretty sure it'd be all crappy.

Sony is a Japanese brand. They do have several headquarters here in the US.

Sony laptops are made by Quanta, ASUS, and Sony (Japan) depending on the model.

Quanta and Asus being Taiwanese companies, with facilities in China as well.

You can't win. Everything comes back to the mainland unless it says Made in Japan on the bottom. But even then, it's probably just assembled in Japan with all the components coming from everywhere such as Malaysia, Mexico, Taiwan, and you guessed it... China.

That's for their desktops. I was wondering about their laptops. I heard they were of different quality, even though they are of the same brand.

Ha, yeah. But I think they're trying to improve. They have an online support chat, 24/7 phone representatives, etc. When I bought this PCV-RX650, they were charging for support on a per-call basis.

That said, they still have quite a way to go.

My only long-term experience with them is with computers.

I know that all of their T series notebooks, like TR, T, TZ, TX are all made in Japan. I think thats their only series that is exclusively made in Japan.
