uninstall oasis2service and vaio messenger (they are adware programs if you ask me). what i meant was that you should have an entry in Control Panel > Prgrams and Features named 'Application Manager for VAIO'. click on that and select Uninstall. it will bring up another application which lets you uninstall some VAIO-specific programs.

    [HOW TO]
recover bundled applications (Adobe suite, PowerDVD, etc.) from SONY's hidden recovery partition
clone HDD to SSD with Symantec Ghost

I do not have a 'application manager for VAIO' that appears under programs and features.... but I think I know what you're talking about and I think I can access something very similar through vaio care < vaio software install/uninstall.... but like I said some vaio applications only seem to give me an option to 'restore' rather than 'uninstall' them..... not sure why that is.... when I click restore on vaio gate for example it first uninstalls it and then reinstalls it...... I'm going to try and restore it again and see if it lets me cancel the re-install when that step starts because I'm not sure how else I would remove it....

SATA III is simply put the speed that your SSD will transfer in. SATA III is faster than SATA II. SATA II is standard on the VAIO but SATA III is supported in an earlier BIOS. You have to downgrade to experience speeds from the SSD higher than 300 MB/s. I did and I have 555 MB/s read and 515 MB/s write. If you don't care about this (SSD will anyway be faster than HDD) then just stick your SSD in and don't worry about it.

Excuse my ignorance, but can you direct me as to which BIOS version supports full SATA III speeds?

Unfortunately not in the UK. Wonder how much it would be to ship to the states? haha. Thanks though.

Just wondering how can I check my current drivers for my Vaio VPCSA390S?

I was wondering if I have to update my Renesas® Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Update as I am only getting around 68 MB/s using my Western Digital My Passport and other people are getting around 70-80 MB/s.

I am also wondering why I here this high pitched sounds during several occasions when I have my MX Performance mouse receiver plugged into the USB 2.0 port. I forgot where I read the solution to the problem and know I am out of the blue.

    Hi Guys,

Hope you guys could please help me out. I realize that the new SA4 series is customizable with a Blu-ray Burner. Could someone please provide me with the model #, or a OEM Blu-ray Writer I could use to replace my drive in my SA3 series? I would appreciate any feedback, thanks!

I ordered the Panasonic UJ240 6x Blu-ray Burner (same company as my blu-ray reader in my SA3) and it was too THICK! So I wanted to know if anyone knows which blu-ray burner they are using for the new SA4CTO series? Thanks

    Oozi

UJ242 is the one you need to replace your old drive.
    I am using UJ240 in my F.

BTW, my battery already 13,5% worn. Does anybody know whether there is an higher capacity battery? Even from a different manufacturer?

    Thanks
    Nicola

How do you check how many % worn the battery is?

    Hello everybody,
I was wondering if anyone made any progress with the video switching on Windows 8 on Vaio SA? So far I managed to activate the ATI card by starting screen number 4, but that gets assigned to an external screen, so in a normal scenario it does not help. (the GPU is active though)
