How can I determine my read/write speeds to know if Im hitting sata 3 specs or not?

I know I wont see theoretical speed, but it better be faster than sata 2

    Thank you for your help.

Now Im sad though. using the atto benchmark, it appears that my ocz vertex 3 is running at:

    write: 250 MB/s
    read: ~280 MB/s

sata 3 should be more into the 300s right? Do I need to enable something? I have the original BIOS.

Off topic...if I replace my ODD with an HDD, and then put the blu ray player in an enclosure, how do I best use it?

sata to usb 3.0 into laptop then HDMI out?
or is there a way to skip laptop and go sata to HDMI?

Check out BIOS R1031H4. From what I've read previously in this thread it supports SATA III. I've downgraded to that one but I don't have an SSD to test with yet. But it doesn't support Bluetooth so if you use BT then you have to find something else to use instead.

    Thanks!
Yeah, finally got the W7 Enterprise running. Been using it for a day now. No problems yet.

No, I didn't install Vaio Smart Connect. Only the ones I listed on page 521. And I've reverted back to an old BIOS (R1031H4) which doesnt support Bluetooth. I don't plan on using my SIM card reader either since I can just share from my cell phone and I've always preferred the Windows utility for controlling WiFi.

SATA III is up to 600MB/s read & write. SATA II is up to 300MB/s.

As I said to pizdets17 you can check out the BIOS R1031H4. It is supposed to support SATA III but it does not have support for Bluetooth and has fewer fan RPM-steps (4 compared to 8 in the new BIOS). There is a link somewhere in this thread (page 490->505 I would guess). If you cant find it then let me know and I'll upload it somewhere conveniet.

I hope someone has. I was planning on ordering Corsair Force GT that supposedly can go up to 500+ MB/s in both read and write. Perhaps there is a setting in the BIOS you have to change?

Yeah that was my initial thought. I have been through the bios, there doesnt seem to be any settings for it. I have heard that there is an advanced menu that one can unlock. But as for how to unlock it, I dont know.

I read something about that further back in the thread myself. Modded R1031H4 or something?

Please, guys, if anyone knows anything then shout out. I want SATA III-speeds and don't care about BT
