Re: Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD Series Owners' Thread
Anyone seen this on their SA.
Battery (internal) charges to 99% with charging light illuminated but is not reaching 100% - so orange charging light always on.
Any ideas what this might be ?
(Battery care is disabled & battery condition indicator shows green & excellant)
Cheers,

Re: Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD Series Owners' Thread
The CPU temp never reach 90 Celcius, while my 3830TG overheat easily in that condition

In my SA:
1. No
2. No
3. No
4. Yes, a little. Too little to mention.
This was a American purchase (Microsoft Store)
This should be on the page one
Try pressing F10 while in BIOS screen, it will boot from the Recovery Partition
Re-enable and re-disable the Battery Care Function, sometimes when you enable or disable the Battery Care, it doesn't applied, probably because a bug in Sony Battery Care..Sony VAIO VPCSA2FGX/BI i5-2410M (2.3-2.9) | HD6630M 1 GB | 6 GB | Corsair Force 3 240GB | 13.3" 900p matte | Windows 8

Re: Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD Series Owners' Thread
Thanks,
I tried that & made no difference.
Also, I contacted Sony who suggested removing & re-inserting battery.
However, the problem is slightly worse now, charges to 96% & indicates 'still charging' plus charging light iluminated but never reaches 100%.
I am beginning to suspect a faulty battery but how do I diagnose that, any ideas?
Cheers,
T

Re: Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD Series Owners' Thread
So, I just installed a second HDD replacing the optical drive and I'd like to know if there is anything else I should configure?
When I turn on the notebook, I have this small icon that says the CD/DVD/BD is on, and I can't turn it off. I think the HDD is permanently on, so it gets a little warmer now.
Is this ok?

Re: Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD Series Owners' Thread
I've done what I could to look into this, as I have the same setup. It appears that because of the positioning ( In the DVD bay ) the Sony software refuses to recognise the drive as a Hard Drive, and as such will never cut power to the SATA connectors.
I have not had time to test this theory, but I believe if the Sony software was removed you would be able to set the sleep timer through Windows 7 power management and the disk should spin down when not used.
Either way, the idle power drain is minimal, although I can be sure we would all appreciate a way to spin down the second drive. If you can live without having any Sony software then perhaps you will be able to cool down the laptop the majority of the time.

Re: Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD Series Owners' Thread
The setting to turn it off is to set the sony software to "auto" on the Optical Bay power management (right click on the tray icon that gives you the notification).

Re: Official Sony SB/SA/SC/SD Series Owners' Thread
Hi,
I have bought a SA and I performed a clean W7 installation.
The only problem I have is that after installing all Sony stuff, the HDD protection from the VAIO Control Center is not available.
Does someone know what driver/file controls this feature?
Thanks!SONY VAIO SA: Intel Core i5 2.30 GHZ | 750 GB Hard Drive | 8 GB DDR3 RAM | Hybrid Graphics (Intel HD/ATI HD 6630) | 13,3’’ LED Display (1600x900)

This is awesome, with the overklock battlefield 3 is running at high, with 1366x768 resolution.
