Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
^Right click the battery/power plug icon on the bottom right tray -> Adjust Power Properties -> VAIO Power Management. Then you can choose which power scheme suits your needs best. You can then change the default LCD Brightness level for when your laptop is plugged in and when it's running on batteries.
Does anyone know how to disable/get rid of the DVD-rom noise during startup? The DVD-rom light blinks a few times and then the drive makes a few sounds like it's warming up or something. I get this noise whenever I power on my SZ and also coming from hibernation. I already disabled the DVD-rom in Power Management and I even excluded it from the boot sequence in the BIOS. I already disabled the VAIO startup chime, but I still get unwanted attention in the library/class because of the DVD-rom noise!

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
Just to update about my cpu upgrade to a P9500 processor from a T9300. Well i got a new CPU and that fit as it should do but my laptop just would not boot with it. The T9500 is the best processor in this line that i can upgrade to but i would never do that.
I guess other than maybe getting an SSD drive in the future that is pretty much it when it comes to upgrading my laptop.Sony TT SU9600, White, 256GB SSD, 8GB DDR 3,Gobi WWAN EU, 5300, HDMI, Bluray
Sony SZ71WN/C- 4GB, 128GB SSD,
Samsung Galaxy 8.9 16GB 3G ICS, White tablet.

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
I just wonder...why do you even need P9550? What are you doing with this little machine, that you need more power?
I am SURE SSD upgrade would speed whole system more, than a CPU upgrade. And maybe try to find some 4G/stick memory modules.

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
It was never really for the speed why i wanted to upgrade. SPEEDwithJJ is right i wanted the small lower voltage battery life gains.
Speed wise the T9300 performs about the same as the P9500 processor.Sony TT SU9600, White, 256GB SSD, 8GB DDR 3,Gobi WWAN EU, 5300, HDMI, Bluray

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
Anyone want to assist me with the speed and stamina switch issue. To further elucidate my issue, my stamina switch is stuck, when I switch it to speed mode it won't give me the message to switch graphics cards. I have a VGN-SZ360P, and I have downloaded original drivers installed them as well in an attempt to fix this issue. I installed Sony Utilities, library and all the factory defaults still no success. Later I opened the laptop up the bottom visible screws and blew away all the dust. I couldn't access the Video card switch though as I don't really know how to fully open the bottom half off. so any help? This issue happened roughly around when I installed Vmware (workstation version)
