Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
I think that you should try the Alps driver as I think that all SZ6/7 SZ models come with the Alps driver. I tried a Synpatics driver on my laptop and my trackpad did not work. You could try downloading the driver from any Sony site. The driver that i use is called Pointing Driver ALPS 7.0F.
I don't think that Sony US/CA will service your laptop for you without a fee unless you have the Vaio overseas warranty.
Edited to add:
This driver on this Sony site for this laptop should work for you.

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
hi all,
I've just purchased an aftermarket replacement battery for my old SZ-110. it powers the notebook up fine. however, when I log into Windows, it pops up a message saying something like: "non compatible or doesn't have a battery attach, something like that...." and it gives me only one choice, to click OK to enter hiberate mode.
is Sony not allow me to use any aftermarket battery?? is there any way to overcome this?? the battery itself is fine, I could stay at the log on screen for as long as I like, but as soon as I logged onto Windows, this message pops up, and give me no choice but to click OK to hibernate......

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
Get rid of ISB utility at startup.
CCLeaner -> autostart switch the ISB utility off
or
msconfig - do the same
Edit:
Called ISBMgr.exe

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
It checks your battery at startup and gives an error message if you use a non-Sony battery.

Re: ~Sony SZ Owners Lounge~
I bought a 2.53ghz P9500 processor for my SZ7/C. It probably will only run at 800mhz as that is the max for the CPU my laptop can take but still i will be get the benefits of the lower power draw of a 25w processor. Battery life can only improve. The x3100 graphics card has got a low power draw and the standard battery in the SZ/C/X is rated at 5800mAh.
Upgrading looks pretty easy as the CPU is situated at the base of the laptop.
I would like to sell my current processor but i better hang onto it as my laptop is still under warranty until the middle of 2011.Sony TT SU9600, White, 256GB SSD, 8GB DDR 3,Gobi WWAN EU, 5300, HDMI, Bluray
