I was thinking of getting a lighter power adapter for travel.
I have read some reviews on the amazon.com website and some seem quite critical of the Sony VGP-AC19V21 stick adapter.
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846
Someone recommended getting an small Belkin / Kensington / 3rd party 120W travel power supply instead.

I have not been able to find any of the above power supplies that was recommended. Does anybody know of any cheaper alternative small power travel adapters that might work with the SZ?

I have also been thinking about changing my carbon fibre lid to premium carbon fibre brown one.

I have been quoted like $200 for the parts. Just to change the carbon lid do i actually need both of those parts?

I am not sure if i am going to go through with it yet but i probably will do. Does anyone know if it is hard to get the lid of?

What the hell....travel adaptor and only 6 inches long. Thats odd. Perhaps it was ment to hook it directly onto backside of the laptop or something similar.

Otherwise its a totally wrong thing...

The premium carbon fibre brown lid you're talking about is this:

    SpeedwithJJ thanks.

shakeyshane i don't know if you have sorted your LCD out but the part number that you need is A1181089A.

I bought a couple of SZ keys to replace a couple of the keys on my keyboard are they easy enough to take of and pop them back on? Some of the keys can get shiny after a while.

I have also bought a silicon keyboard cover anyway for graduate school to try and reduce the noise of the keyboard but i will use it to protect the keyboard more now as well.

Also i am not going to be home very much and i want mobile broadband on my laptop. I live in the UK and my laptop came with a T-Mobile sim i was meant to get free 30 days usage but i did not get that and i was told by T-Mobile that the card number had been cancelled so i threw the card away.
My laptop has WWAN built into it and place for a sim to be fitted.

Will any sim work or will i need to stick with T-Mobile?
To many companies seem to offer ugly looking dongles and not SIM's for mobile broadband access i want to use a SIM only. Maybe i did the wrong thing by throwing away that T-Mobile sim that i had. I would prefer to use something that was not on a contract that i could top up when i want.
    Thanks

    Any SIM will work :-)
My German SZ has an Orange SIM in - don't use it, maybe I'll send SMS??
(Used it once though, it worked)
You can get the Globetrotter Connect Software from Sony for free (download)
Then put in any SIM and it'll work - should it be locked, contact Sony, they should unlock it, however it should be open.

In a German one any will work - same should go for the English one, but if it is locked (unlikely) Sony will unlock it.

The reason it isn't locked is that the mobile phone provider has no "rtights to it". When you buy a phone the mobile phone provider pays part of the costs, this does not happen here.

    But it should be unlocked.

    Hi folks,

I remember last time I reinstalled my SZ I used an excellent, updated sw/driver package someone put together here, leaving out the crap - now I just upgraded my SZ260p/C with a 64GB OCZ Core SSD drive and all I'm missing are these Sony stuff (their support list is a worthles PoS mess)... anyone has a linky?
    TIA

    Hi,

New to forum and just got Sony VGN-sz750n/c which I am very pleased with so far. Picked up second battery which expect to carry with me along with original battery (both are vgp-bps10.)

Would like to have a charger that could be charging one battery while using other battery in computer. So far no luck in finding such an animal. Would appreciate any info you may have on a suitable unit.

Thanks in advance for any help. Looking forward to learning about this computer on this forum.

    Cheers!

Honestly, I'm not sure if something like this exists.
I can't remeber seeing something like this on the Sony website...
