Wouldn't you only have to swap out the lid, since the premium SZ's already have the LED LCD's installed? It would just snap on the back of the screen.

So is it confirmed that the new sz640N/C's 8400ms only have 64mb ram?

well the lid cant be swapped out, i will definately not try it on mine. but i have researched extensively, talked to sony, others to have a user configured model with premium lid but after searching everywhere i came to know that's simply not possible, if u want the premium lid you have to get 691nx, also as the build goes the led lcd and the lid appears to be sticked together and both need to be changed together which i think is a very distant possibility, rather i will look forward to it so i cud swap it in my old sz

i dont see why you cant switch out the whole lid, its not like the hinges are any different.

i just got my 691nx, and i dont get what all the excitement is over the lid. Its nice, but i would be making much of an effort to get it if it wasnt standard
