SSD Upgrade and Alignment?
I've read a few people mentioning that they didn't properly align the SSD after a clean install.
I plan to replace my stock HDD and do a clean install on an SSD. I was concerned about alignment though. What is it? Should I be worried or is this only for Hybrid set ups?
Also, what is trim? Is that like partitioning?
EDIT: I think I may have posted this in the wrong section, my apologies.

Re: SSD Upgrade and Alignment?
If you're doing a clean install of Windows 7, the installer will take care of alignment for you.

Re: SSD Upgrade and Alignment?
Open the command prompt as admin and then type:
diskpart
list disk (find your SSD in there)
select disc # (where # us the number associated with your SSD)
list partition
look at the number after offset, if you can divide it by 4kB, then it is aligned.Current: Precision M6700¦3720qm¦2x240GB SSD + 256GB mSATA¦32GB DDR3 1600MHz¦Firepro M6000

Re: SSD Upgrade and Alignment?
Go to System Information( Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> System Info), click Disks ( Components-> Storage-> Disks)
Divide the value of "Partition Starting Offset" by 4096, if you get a whole number then your SSD is aligned.
