You can get a Corsair Performance Pro 256GB from newegg for $295 (after rebate). That's an excellent deal for one of quickest and most reliable drives (Marvel controller) out there.

M4 has had issues with firmware and the 5200 hour bug. The Performance Pro uses the same controller as the M4 but tweaked. I would avoid SandForce, I'd pick either the 320 series or the 830 series from Samsung.

I don't think the Samsung 830 series has better power consumption than the 320 series, maybe compared to 520 series. Traditionally Intel's mainstream SSDs have some of the lowest power consumption.
