Re: Samsung 830 SSD
But what would you need an adapter for??
the connector is the same distance from the bottom of the ssd
side mount holes are the same distance from the bottom of the ssd.
Even if your laptop mount was both bottom and side it works. They are taking the 2mm from the top of the ssd and not changing the mounting dimensions.
I paid $406 with the shipping
Supper lucky

Re: Samsung 830 SSD
I guess for newer model laptops it isn't much of a concern, but older laptops such as my Inspiron 1520, I don't think it's as easy as you described here. I don't know, I'd probably have to look at it, in order to give an accurate assessment but the spacer would prevent it from moving around.
If you don't mind, when you have free time, could you show us how you secured your SSD w/o the spacer. Just for curiosity's sake.Useful Threads

Re: Samsung 830 SSD
We should be getting and official announcement from Intel sometime this week if the release date for the 520 is indeed November 4th, 2011.
Hopefully, we also get some news on Intel's Hawley Creek details and release date. I just want Hawley Creek to have the features and speed on Intel's 320 minus the firmware bug (totally fixed) with a slight price drop. Or else, I'd just go for a 310 (price reduction) after Hawley Creek has been released.Lenovo IdeaPad Y570

Re: Samsung 830 SSD
I doubt the .2mm difference is going to limit the older laptop models very much. If you do find that the SSD is loose, you can always wrap it in some very thin foam wrap or something of that nature. You can apply the foam on the backside of the cover, then attach it and it will be tight.
mine might be a little more than that though. My drive has a heater that wraps around it that is pre-formed. Then it goes into a gel filled stainless cage/caddy. Why can't ****be easy
