There are some newer models, such as my ep121 that come stock mSata in the smaller form factor. This is where this ssd somes in to play, since our tablets came stock with either 32 or 64gb and many of us have been searching for a replacement with more room. That is why it is hard to find the Intel 510, seems to be sold out almost any time one looks for it. I moved up to 80gb, but 120gb sure makes me wish I had been able to wait another couple of months.

I don't know of an mSATA version of the Intel 510.

Intel's mSATA drives consist of the 310 line (in 40GB and 80GB MLC versions) for storage, and the 311 line (in a 20GB SLC variant) for their new Smart Response Technology (SSD caching).

The 510 is 2.5" only at this point according to their whitepapers.

Called MyDigitalDiscount got some info: they just shipped my 128GB MyDigitalSSD they got 50pcs this morning and 30pcs 64GB are on the way. They will have the Renice 120GB K3VLAR series that includes the mSATA to SATA board and has conformal coating on Monday/Tuesday and 60GB a week or so later.

Lol yeah, I have the 310 in my ep121, and a 510 in my Sager, and have been hopping back and forth between threads.

There is someone on the ep121 threads posting these exact same screen shots, also saying it is for a renice 120gb ssd, yet it also shows 9/50gb on the cdm screenshot, he says he partitioned his to 50gb/70gb, but the numbers are exactly the same. Exactly. The screenshots show exactly the same numbers under cdm. It would appear to suspicious minds like there may be some salesmanship going on. I have 5 ssds in total, not one of them gives me the total amount of room. My 120gb ssds give me about 111gb. Something smells in Denmark.

$300 for 120GB? What's the point? Around 350-370 you can buy a 256GB Samsung albeit at 2.5" disk size. Unless you absolutely need an ODD why not a cheaper and/or greater capacity primary SSD and a second HDD (or second SSD even) in the Ultrabay?
Past notebooks: Some 10" Toshiba, Dell X1, Panasonic CF-Y5, Lenovo T400s. Current notebooks: Lenovo T420, Sony Vaio P.

Lenovo X220 systems only have a mSATA SSD+ 2.5" HDD hybrid arrangement, so no ODD is used. THen there are systems that exclusively use mSATA SSDs so have limited options.

Granted, there are cheaper but slower mSATA SSDs, like the OCZ Nocti which can be had for $220 for 120GB. See mSATA & 1.8" SATA SSDs available if still want to pursue mSATA SSD options.

    In mydigitaldiscount.com I found there are 2 types of 120GB msata :
    Renice 120GB K3VLAR 50mm SandForce mSATA (Mini SATA PCI-e) SSD - RN-K3M-S5120
Renice 120GB K3VLAR-3 50MM mSATA SATA III (6G) SandForce 2281 Mini PCIe 25 nm Flash SSD Solid State Drive - RN-K3M3-S5120

The later is cheaper and has better performance due to SATA3. Anybody ever tried this on x220?
