Last I checked it was firmware 1916 that provided TRIM support. Perhaps ask MDD to ensure that version is loaded on your replacement ProIV SSD or at the very least, give you some guarantee that the SSD they supply can be upgraded to 1916/2030.

Maybe a good reason to return the drive to the vendor and/or seek Paypal refund to purchase a Runcore ProIV instead?

I'd try to run a low level format on the ssd and reinstall the OS. Do you have your D420 flashed with the latest BIOS?

I contacted the ebay seller, and they wouldn't offer a refund, but they did offer to send another drive at no cost. So I guess if the new drive has the same issue I will sell them off as incompatible with my dell. I don't know why they would be. I am hoping that I just got a bad one from the factory, and it is not a bad batch.

Got the new drive, and it is probably from a different batch based upon firmware numbers. The firmware on the new one is 0.19R1H2, and the old drive was a .18 firmware. Loading up win 7 with no issues so far. Now got to watch it and see if it starts breathing fire or cursing in tongues.

I was wondering if anyone had tried the flash fire driver? Looks like it might help out the lower end drives.

Well it has been a week with the replacement drive, and no corrupt file errors on boot. With any luck I am good to go.

It seems that fate wants me to move on from my D420. I bought a E6400 last night for $80 on craigslist (never tell the buyer you need the money tonight at 1am). It uses 2.5" drives. So now I am open to selling my good 16gb 1.8Mtron drive that I have used for a whole two weeks. PM if interested. $40 shipped via usps.

Hi gegenion and all others, I'm new to the forum.

I am the very unhappy possessor of a Super Talent 64Gb GF series SSD FZM64GF18H. I confirm the terrible writing performance, mine is even worse than reported from gegenion. Below are CDM test with and without FlashFire:

I've been using the drive for one year now, performing Tony-trim more or less once a month, every time without noticing much improvement.

I'd like to know if anyone has suggestions, apart from buy a new one (which I suppose I will eventually do).

Moreover, do anyone possess a Super Talent GF showing good performance or are they all like this?

I'd also like to know whether gegenion is using FlashFire or not (if not, you'd want to try and maybe you could post performance).

My configuration is Motion Computing LE1600 1.6 GHz, 1.5 Gb, Win7 Ultimate, the IDE is working in UDMA5 mode.

Thank you for your information for the experiences using this kind of SSD. I did not use FlashFire on the SSD. Long time ago, this SSD was returned and refunded. I went to classical 5400 rpm hard driver. Performance with mechanical spinning hard driver on my XT tablet is much better.

Default RunCore Pro IV 1.8'' PATA ZIF PLUS

    Hi
Do you know what is the difference between RunCore Pro IV 1.8'' PATA ZIF PLUS (RCP-IV-Z18XX-MC) and RunCore Pro IV 1.8'' PATA ZIF (RCP-IV-Z18XX-C)?
