Re: SSD Thread (Benchmarks, Brands, News, and Advice)
Intel's real problem is that the Vertex 3 doesn't appear to have any of the (hardware) downsides the 510 does, and it's going to be cheaper. I had a 510 ordered, but for upwards of $500 I didn't think I'd be happy with something that has such a performance hole, even if I wouldn't likely run into it in real-world situations. It'd be bugging me -- every time anything hitched, I'd be wondering if it was due to the relatively poor random access performance.
So now I'm waiting on the Vertex 3 and trying to decide if the great across-the-board performance is worth purchasing from OCZ.

Re: SSD Thread (Benchmarks, Brands, News, and Advice)
I just think Intel wanted to cater to those that wanted to take advantage of the SATA III speeds. Partially for marketing too. Probably didn't want to look bad because they didn't use the full potential of the new SATA III.
G3 seems like a more well rounded product though.

Re: SSD Thread (Benchmarks, Brands, News, and Advice)
IMHO this 510 is mainly an upgrade for systems with sata III; sequential read are the best improvement, but i think/hope the big bang will come with G3...intel don't dream on your glories, crush the market again

Intel wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot. Basically 510 will be high end SSD while G3 will be mainstream.

I`m upgrading, are you? (GTX 780M...
