You can now discuss "Hackintosh"
We have removed restrictions against discussion of hackintosh. Have at it.
Software piracy discussion is prohibited, same as before. Our long-term members know how strict we are on that topic.

Re: You can now discuss "Hackintosh"
Charles does this allow for discussion of non-Apple hardware i.e. OSx86 hardware as well as using a purchased copy of OS X on non Apple computers?

You'll face it anyway for something else -- it is just a matter of time

Re: You can now discuss "Hackintosh"
Where is the proper place to discuss installing OS X in a VMWare virtual machine? Which forum here?

Re: You can now discuss "Hackintosh"
Good news! Nice to see someone standing up to Apple's "EULA abuse" (the notion that copyright owners can use license agreements to enforce product tying schemes).
Any details on what led to this decision?Acer Aspire 5720ZG "Maximum Overdrive": CPU: T9300 | VGA: GT 230M, 1GB DDR3 (MXM-II, taken from a Toshiba A500) | RAM: 4GB | Display: 1920x1200 "LP154WU1-TLC1" | BIOS: V1.45 "Black edition V4.0"

So what made the legal department change their mind?

Re: You can now discuss "Hackintosh"
They didn't entirely change their mind. Our position is that we are not going to allow the discussion of OS X installs using torrents or pirated copies. If you really want to discuss it we'll be allowing discussion about installing a legal/purchased copy of OS X on x86 machines.
