Can anyone explain to me what all the info on the left hand side bar is about (e.g. rep power) because I don't really get what it means.

Re: Help
User Title (located under your s/n)
Notebook enthusiast-->This changes as you continue to make more posts (see next post for specific titles).
Reputation Power & Boxes
Rep Power = the amount of rep that you can give or take away from someone. Right now, you can give 1 point to anyone, but this will increase as time goes on. This is calculated based on the following:
- For every 250 posts (OT posts do not count) = 1 additional rep power
- Every 150 days of active membership = 1 additional rep power
- For every 100 rep points (explanation below) = 1 additional rep power + 1 additional green box.
The box beside your rep power is an indication for users to tell if you are helpful user or not a helpful user. Since you are new, you are neutral, but this will change in time. When a user feels that your post is helpful they can click on the icon between the green light and red triangle, and give you rep.
- Grey = neutral (or zero rep power if you see this in UserCP).
- Red = negative feedback
- Green = positive feedback
Reputation Points
When a user gives you rep, the amount that is in their rep power is added to your reputation points (click on UserCP to see what rep was given to you). Rep points is basically the numerical amount of reputation that you have receive, and is located on the main page of UserCP. You will see a list of thread titles, green/grey/red boxes (explained below), User Name, and any comments that they might have left. Above the reputation given box, you'll see a number. Once you have accumulated 100 points, your rep power will increase by 1 and you'll receive an additional green box.
Everyone on the site is allowed to give rep five times to during a 24 hour period, but must be a different user. You can not give rep to the same user twice in the same day.
Icons
- Green Light -- user is online. If dark/grey user is offline or invisible.
- Scale Icon (that's what I call it) -- allows you to give positive or negative rep to a user
- Red Triangle -- report that post and sends a report to the Admins/Super Mods and Mods for that particular forum. If you see any posts/threads that you feel like are offensive, spam, fighting, etc, use this tool to report it and it will be looked at by the Moderators/Admins.
Hopefully this will explain it. I know it sounds a bit confusing, but basically the rep system is a reward and punishment system. It's design is so users can reward those who are helpful and punish those who cause problems.Last edited by Amber; 10th July 2006 at 08:40 PM.

Re: Reputation Points/Power, User Titles
So when people increase your rep, your rep should increse e.g if I have 2 rep points and someone with 1 adds to my rep, their 1 is added to my 2 and it goes up to 3 for me?

Re: Reputation Points/Power, User Titles
If you click under "user CP" It will tell you how many rep points you have. If someone reps you then your rep points will increase. Once you reach 100pts your Rep power and Rep boxes will increase ( the little green things). The only time you give someone 1 rep power point is if... either they don't have any rep, or you made them reach 100pts and so they get another rep point, and a green box.

Re: Reputation Points/Power, User Titles
If a user = 0 power and rep points , which would be the users with the grey boxes, giving them rep only turns their rep box green or red, depending on how you rated them.
