    Default Desktop Section...

As we all know, desktopreview.com is dead, there are only 2-3 active posters and in general is just dead. It feels like a ghost town. It would be nice to have a dedicated section to discuss desktops here on NBR just like we used to! The forum was very active while it existed and clearly closing it and redirecting traffic directly to DTR has not worked at all. I think we should consider that experiment over and re-open the desktop section here.

I think the majority of active members here on NBR feel that the desktop section should be reopened. So just to confirm this and hopefully convince the site admins otherwise...POLL time!

I have to agree with usapatriot, I created a thread on DTR this morning (which represents 25% of the posts for today) and the only answer I got is from a member here on NBR who answered my cry for help in The Random Thread.
There is currently two users browsing the forum, none of them have over 10 posts. The traffic on DTR is not high enough to justify posting on this forum.
I understand that it may sound weird to have a Desktop section in a Notebook forum, but I don't see why you would forbid it.
Forums are made to share knowledge and to seek for help, there is no reason why you would prevent any serious and useful conversation from happening.. There are tons of people here and a lot of them are very handy.
It's sad how we are not using all that knowledge for both Desktop and notebook.

I got a desktop recently, I thought DTR would be a good help for me but it is deserted.. I would have liked to stay here, as I know the people and I trust them, but I'll have to go on other forums, and that is bad for both me and NBR.

And before one of the Mods comes in and says that DTR was asked for by NBR members, well times change and DTR pretty much resembles a failed experiment.
Just because something was done for a certain reason in the past, that doesn't mean that reason is still valid now.

There are desktop-related threads being started on NBR that the Mods then lock, combine that with the fact that DTR is beyond quiet and I think it's pretty obvious this issue needs to be re-addressed.

Another vote for the Desktop section re-opening.

DTR is dead. A failed experiment. Even desktop-related threads here get more responses in the couple hours before they're closed than the average DTR thread gets in its lifetime.

According to websiteoutlook, DTR only makes $32.43 per day in ad revenue. desktopreview.com Estimated Worth $23673.9 USD by websiteoutlook A far cry from NBR's $1279.54 daily. notebookreview.com Estimated Worth $934064.2 USD by websiteoutlook

So yeah, I really think DTR is dead, and has been for some time.

At this time, despite whatever third party traffic numbers suggest, DestopReview.com is not "dead." That site is very much alive and several members of the editorial team for DTR also contribute here on NBR.

Although we welcome discussions of all types here in the forums on NBR, we don't want to have a forum group "dedicated" to desktops here when our sister site DesktopReview.com has a forum of its own. We likewise wouldn't want to have an NBR forum dedicated to digital cameras or printers when the forums on DigitalCameraReview.com and PrinterComparison.com make more sense.

Again, we welcome discussions of all sorts here but we're not going to reopen a dedicated desktop forum here when DTR is still alive and kicking.
