Default MS Streets with GPS + Notebook instead of dedicated GPS device

Hi,

Microsoft Streets and Maps comes with a GPS receiver. I've been thinking of buyin and using it together with my notebook, instead of buying a special GPS device.

Has anyone tried this before? Does it work ok?

Thanks

Yes it does work but if you have a weak sounding speaker or the car is noisy it's not recommended. If you have a big notebook you better have an empty seat beside you, it just takes too much space and I recommend a lighter adapter for the notebook.

I bought a dedicated GPS system and it's more convenient and doesn't take much space. I still use MS Streets as a backup and looking up maps.

You can always run a cable in your vehicle that allows you to connect the notebook to the car stereo system, or just use an FM transmitter to connect it.
