Default Driver & Resource Problems

Under "Other Devices/Ethernet Controller" I am recieving a (Code 28) stating that "The drivers are not installed." I have gone through all the options given in device manager to search for the drivers or update them and they find nothing. A while ago I called Acer support and they sent me a recovery CD. The Device Manager cannot find the necessary driver on this CD.

My question is how do I find the necessary Ethernet Controller driver and install it. I can't think of anymore options. Also, it is not listed on any Acer support site that I have found and the support guy told me not all necessary drivers are available online.

I am also getting a (Code 12) for the SMC IrCC - Fast Infrared Port and the Communications Port (COM 2) stating "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use." This is a ridiculous message as this is a new machine.

My question for this is: How do I fix it?

I would like to thank everyone who takes the time on this forum to respond to everyone's questions because it really helps. I feel this forum is more useful than Customer Support Programs.

P.S. My system is an Acer Aspire 5670.

You can try Windows Update. Sometimes it will detect which hardware items have out of date or incompatible drivers, and will let you download them. There are also several sites with windows drivers. Just make sure you find out what chip's drivers you need.

Start with Windows update.
