Default first review of lifebook q2010

cheers from the fujitsu-siemens launch event from geneva:

I m holding one of the first 10 lifebook q2010 in my hands here at the press conference.

Reasons for Buying

If you are looking for a unique and eye catching notebook with the following qualities: crazy and awesome design and build quality due to magnesium and titan materials. and if you want to stay connected everywhere the q with the integrated umts-hsdpa would fit perfect to you.

design
it s a very slim but robust housing thanks to magensium and titanium. (see pic)
The case is absolutely the best I have seen due to the piano painting and magnesium lid. the weight is incredible, less than 1 kg

Battery

the q will come with 2 batteries. one small battery and a bigger battery. With the bigger battery you will have 8 h battery runtime.....

connectivity

the system will be shipped with integreted umts. i was able at the launch event to browse the web via HSDPA. incredible fast!!

pros

lightweight
stylish design (for ceos)
integrated umts
latest intel processor napa
fingerprintsensor
tpm chip module
docking station available
recovery button

cons
expensive for non- ceos
short battery life with small battery

how cool! That Q2010 reminds me a lot of the Sony X505 from a couple of years back, so incredibly thin. Do you know when you can actually buy this in Europe, did they say anything about that at this launch event? Did they say anything about what processor is inside this skinny machine?

Thanks for the heads up! I was thinking of a Sony SZ but think I will wait now. I really want a widescreen 12", not a 13" laptop. I also needed a reason for getting rid of the Verizon Broadband Access card at $79 per month; looks like this could be it if the monthly UTMS fee is right; I am already with Cingular so maybe I can get HSDPA for $59 per month. SWEET!

Well, this might take a while to get to the U.S. though, these super slim ultraportables never sell as well over here. It's Asia (specifically Japan) where they go crazy for type of design and usually sell first, I'm wondering if Fujitsu has this laptop available somewhere in the Pacific Rim or if this is indeed being launched in Europe first. Also, the $4,000 - $5,000 price tag might make you run away after being enticed by the design.

thanks to mmeier for posting these great pics !
