Coming soon: HP Pavilion dm1/dm3/dv8/tm2 Notebooks, Mini 5102, Compaq CQ36 + more
Some new HP notebooks have popped up in the HP support portals (see second post for a more complete list). This may confirm the new models that were speculated to begin production. (This may also explain why there were so many price discounts on existing models from the HP website.)
Please browse through this thread for details on the new notebook and netbook lineups that HP will be offering.
Thoughts? Comments? Feelings about wanting (or not wanting) these notebooks? Please feel free to post.
Edit 09/28/2009: The HP Winter 2009/2010 catalog has been leaked by Engadget which showcases the new lineups coming soon -- http://www.engadget.com/photos/hps-l...-2010-catalog/

From Final Words, Anandtech Review, Feb 2009
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=3513&p=1
“The 32nm Clarkdale/Arrandale parts arriving by the end of this year really means one very important thing: the time to buy a new notebook will be either in Q4 2009 or Q1 2010. A 2-core, 4-thread 32nm Westmere derivative is not only going to put current Penryn cores to shame, it’s going to be extremely power efficient. In its briefing yesterday, Intel mentioned that while Clarkdale/Arrandale clock speeds and TDPs would be similar to what we have today, you’ll be getting much more performance. Seeing what we’ve seen thus far with Nehalem, I’d say a 2-core, 32nm version in a notebook is going to be reason enough for you to want to upgrade”.
First notebook previews should be….. interesting !!
Tick- Tock.

Very interesting... 8440w? Possibly a 14" workstation? Engineering college students would really like that...

im interested in what GPUs these will use,and what sizes they will be. I'd like to see a new 13 inch with a better GPU than whats offered by everyone else.

Based on HP's current product line up (and what they currently lack in comparison to Dell's current offerings), I'm going to guess that the dm1 and dm3 models will be 11" and a 13" ultra-thin models without an integrated optical drive, and the tm2 will be a 12" touchscreen tablet like the tx2 but without an optical drive.

if they launch the ##4# series notebooks until the end of the year or a bit later and only put the mobility radeon 4-series gpus inside, that would be the worst FAIL imaginable, since the 5-series come out in september, shipping till end october, and the whole 5-series is announced to be launched at the beginning, ie. all classes, as well as the mobility gpus.
so please, hp, give the ##4#p models ( 8540p mainly; 8540w/8740w the workstation gpus respectively) the rv840/870 gpus, best the redwood (mainstream/performance) class as standard, and optionable juniper/cypress (performance/high-end) for the high-end ones, as well as core 2 quad and i7 cpus, respectively.

Anyone know if HP will refresh the HDX series with Clarksfield CPU's? In fact, anyone know if the HDX series will be refreshed at all?

Does it appear that there will be a replacement for the DV4T, or another 14" model similar to the DV4? That 14" screen (16:10) size is pretty much perfect for me. Heck, I'd have already bought the DV4T if they still had the LED screen available.
