Default ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 driver for XP

Hi,
I just bought a new DV7T 2000 and would like to replace the hard drive that came with the computer with a new one. I am researching about putting XP on it and looking for the necessary drivers prior to the installation. I need help locating the graphic card driver, it's the brand new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB. I was looking all over the web and there was no info about it. The ATI site doesn't provide drivers anymore.

Thanks

there is a site and application called Mobility Modder which may work for you. http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

for other drivers for your notebook, you can find them from the XP dv7 thread. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=281286

i could tell you up front that you will need to slipstream ahci/sata and raid drivers to a copy of XP if you have an AMD based board/cpu. you can use the south bridge driver and raid driver packs found on AMD/ATI's website.

Actually since you want to run windows XP I would try the win xp mobile catalyst driver first before trying to mod the desktop driver using the mobility mod tool.
Here is the direct link to the XP mobility driver.

Thank you dp64 and Evolution!

Evolution, do you know whether the ATI Win XP Mobile Catalyst supports the Radeon HD 4530 card? This card is pretty new and I would rather play it safe.

Thanks

I have no idea if it supports the 4530, the only way to know is download the driver and see if it installs. ATI driver packages usually won't allow you to install anything if your card is not supported in the driver update.

I am not going to try something which may not work or even harm my hardware. If I can't be sure that the catalyst has the necessary driver for my card to work on XP I will not risk it.. :\

It won't harm your computer. Worst case, it won't work, you uninstall, restart, and install again.

Exactly...

If your card isn't supported it will tell you.

using mobility modder with catalyst & dd 9.13 probably wont work properly, but try it.

if it fails, the best way to install the newest ati drivers for mobility cards is to modify the .inf files by yourself, which many people also report gives a bit better performance (i experience it myself on 8510p/hd2600)

for your card (4530) and winxp (i suppose x86), the procedure looks like this:

download dd & ccc seperately

in dd for 4530 add:
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553
anywhere to the list under [ATI.Mfg.NTx86] in the CX_####.inf file

then there are 2 ways to install it:

1. in device manager > update driver (ati card) > point to the .inf file
2. add ",0x9533" to the end of the second line (turn off word wrap in notepad!) of the chapter under [WINXP] starting with "R6=DriverPath_R6" of both files
\ATI\SUPPORT\[Current Version]\Driver\Driver\CX_*****.INI
&
\ATI\SUPPORT\[Current Version]\Driver\Driver\INSTALL.INI

then install the dd the regular way (setup.exe)

DH are working on a (suitable; there are already some, but no really good ones) solution for 9.12 & 9.13 drivers so probably mobility modder willl soon be a way to have most recent drivers for mobility cards as well again

I tried this for the 4530 and it didn't work.. though I may have missed something.. there was no [ATI.Mfg.NTx86] section in the CX_####.inf file. Is it a section you have to create yourself?

Any other ideas would be appreciated.
